Sharon drove curriculum development and looked for ways to engage all students while aiming for all to reach their potential and aim for excellence. I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our community for your messages of condolence and for your understanding about arrangements for Friday for supervision of children to give the Goldfields staff the opportunity to spend the day focused on the funeral. Senior children will be performing waiata and our school haka at the funeral. An online form was sent to families yesterday please complete ASAP so that we have an idea of numbers performing. Principal’s Message

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers, Whānau and Friends of the School,

This week has been somewhat overshadowed by the very sad news of the passing of Sharon Booth who was Principal at Goldfields for 12 years, retiring at the end of 2017. She holds an important place in the heart of our school community and there are still so many children and families at our school whose lives were directly impacted by Sharon.

For our staff this is the loss of a close friend and colleague, someone who was the driving force behind so much at our school. She had vision and passion and was an incredibly hardworking person who knew how to see a project through to fruition. The Goldfields school hall is testament to this determination to see a need, get stuck in and get it done.

Her legacy for our school goes much deeper and wider than buildings. Sharon cared deeply about all the children in our school. She was principal through a period of rapid growth but still made time to know all the children and to build connections with families.
