testimony against your neighbor.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or high man servant, or his maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Who is “our neighbors?”
- All people are our neighbors- We are to love those we like as
well as our enemies. (Matthew 5:44)
“Love your neighbor and yourself” (Matthew 22:39)
Fourth Commandment
“Honor your father and your mother”
What does this mean?We should fear and love God so that we do not
despise or anger our parents and other authorities but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them.
AUTHORITY
Parents and anyone who God has place over us and
has authority over us.
HONOR“to show respect and publicly esteem
someone”
RESPECT“to hold someone in honor and esteem”
ESTEEM“to regard highly or favorable with respect or
admiration.”
To give honor means “to show them and treat them with great
respect.”
OBEY“to do as they
ask”
OBEY“to do as they

“to give over and yield to the power or authority
of another.”
SERVE“to gladly providewhat they need”
LOVE“Putting the needs of another person before
your own”
It’s a life long commitment.
“…that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:3
As Christians, your first loyalty is to God,
then your parents.
He forbids we despise them and anger them with our
disobedience or by any other kind of sin.
God Forbids in Fourth Commandment
1. Your parents are NOT perfect.2. Communicate and spend time with
them.3. See things from their point of view.
4. Hold your temper and don’t raise your voice.
