Go blinds & shutters style guide for

aluminium shutters

In the past, every home had shutters on the windows. Before the advent of glass, these

were the only way to properly protect windows, and to keep out the cold and wet.

Although necessary, the shutters became a very stylish feature, and many homes decorated

their shutters with unique carvings and designs that reflected the style and taste of the

homeowners. The biggest change to shutter style came with the development of plantation

shutters. While these had a practical purpose, they were also frequently used for decorative

purposes and for visual effect. Shutter blades were now louvered, and built with horizontal

slats. These are still very popular in Australia.

Aluminium shutter and Australia

Shutters have been a popular decorative feature for homeowners in Australia for centuries,

a d eve i the oder ho e, shutters are a co o sight. Si ce the ’60s, colo ial style shutters have been very popular, but there are also an increasing number of aluminium

shutters in Gold Coast homes. These have several advantages over traditional wooden

shutters, not least that they are more resistant to the effects of bad weather. The shutters

are designed to be used mainly as a decorative addition to the outside of your home,

although they can also be very useful in bad weather. They require less work than wooden

shutters, but are more stylish and traditional than PVC or composite material shutters. For

homeowners looking for easy to maintain shutters with clean lines and a range of different

styles, aluminium shutters can be the best option.

Picking the right type of shutter

Unless you are a guru of interior design, the choice of different shutter styles can often be

overwhelming. From the very start you have to choose between selecting interior shutters

or those that are placed on the outside of the home. The choice of shutters you have can

mean you are rather spoilt for choice. Exterior shutters are mainly used for decorative

purposes, while interior shutters are used for the same reasons as traditional curtains and

blinds in Gold Coast homes. Their main purpose is to shut out sunlight, and to allow

homeowners a number of different options when it comes to letting in light, or even

protecting entrances. Shutters are one of the best ways to protect your windows, and after

hundreds of years they are still an excellent choice for many homeowners.
