2. EDUCATIONAL AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME
The Clinical Physiology Programme aims to:
(i) provide an understanding of the scientific investigation of human health and disease;
(ii) produce graduates who have developed the skills, knowledge and competence to
practice in Clinical Physiology at Assistant, Associate and Practitioner level and who
are eligible to apply for Equivalence with AHCS;
(iii) produce graduates who are able to integrate theory and practice and who are critical,
reflective thinkers;
(iv) foster an ethos of career-long, self-directed learning through continuous professional
development;
(v) provide students with a supportive learning environment both at Glasgow Kelvin College
and Glasgow Caledonian University;
(vi) be inclusive of all sectors of society and be responsive to the needs of individuals,
employers and stakeholders.
In addition, honours students undertaking the project will:
Conduct a literature survey to support an investigative dissertation/project;
Propose reasoned lines of further investigation:
Design and prepare a project under supervision

8. ASSESSMENT REGULATIONS

apply to this programme. Programme-specific regulations are also in effect.
i) Compensation or carrying of modules will not be allowed for core Clinical Physiology modules,
namely the Clinical Specialist modules and the Work-based Clinical Education modules at each level
of the programme (refer to sections 13.2 and 16.1 of the regulations).
ii) Exceptions Case 100R, February 2011. A minimum mark of 35% for each assessed component has
been applied to modules specific to this programme (refer to section 13.1 of the regulations) with the
exception of those (other than Clinical Specialist modules) in level 1.
