October 1-31, 2015 Trail of Scarecrows at Barren River Lake State Resort Park All families, schools, Scouts, churches, business and other groups are invited to create a unique one-of-a-kind scarecrow to display along the “Trail of Scarecrows. The public is encouraged to visit the Park and view the scarecrows, free of charge, from Oct. 1-31. The scarecrows along with laminated signs identifying its name and the builders are placed along the paved trail that visitors walk, run, hike and bike. A section of the trail is visible along park road. The registration fee to create a scarecrow is $10. Contact Jamie Avery at 1-800-325-0057, Ext. 2415 for information. Quilt squares will be on display at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce for two weeks in November; will then be on display for two weeks at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library. The auction ends on November 21 at the Barren County Homemakers Christmas Bazaar at the Barren County Extension Office from 8am-5pm. Sunday, November 15, 2015 String/Got No Strings Extravaganza, a free community concert sponsored by the Glasgow Musicale at the Barren County High School Auditorium, 507 Trojan Trail, Glasgow. Directed by BCHS Orchestra Director, Amberly Bush. Concert begins at 2pm. Concert will highlight the contributions of the strings section to the orchestral sound followed by a rousing celebration of percussion. Will be a featured artist and special guests. Judging of entries begins at 2:30pm.Immediately after the parade, Santa Claus will be at City Council Chambers at 103 Duke Street for a meet and greet event.
