Welcome to GIS-Pro & CalGIS 2018!

We’re thrilled to collaborate with our CalGIS partners to discuss and share information about the important topics impacting our communities and how we can use GIS to facilitate decisions and action.

The education is plentiful this week! In addition to two fantastic keynote addresses, we have full and half-day workshops, and dozens of breakout sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Thank you to all of the individuals who have devoted countless hours preparing their presentations!

Be sure to take advantage of the unparalleled opportunity to strengthen your professional connections this week. Networking events are plentiful and important! Young Professionals in particular are encouraged to attend YP Meet-ups and URISA Vanguard Cabinet events and sessions.

Use Your GIS Skills! To show our support for the areas impacted by the recent hurricanes, wildfires, flooding and earthquakes, we’ve added a Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Mapathon to the conference program on Tuesday evening. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the popular crowdsourcing app while giving back to communities in need.

Attendance counts toward education points for GIS professional certification or renewal (GISP). In addition, an abundance of AICP-CM credits were approved for GIS-Pro & CalGIS 2018. The Conference Proceedings will be available for download in approximately six weeks.

Thank you to the GIS-Pro & CalGIS 2018 Planning Committee!

The conference was organized by an amazing group of more than 30 professionals who volunteered their expertise, time and enthusiasm to this event. We can’t thank them enough for their dedication.

Special recognition to our fearless leaders:

Event Co-Chairs:• Alex Hepp, Director Assessment, CycloMedia Technology USA (NJ)• Steven J. Steinberg, Ph.D., GISP, Geographic Information Officer, Los Angeles County, Internal Ser-vices Department (CA)

Program Chair: John Nolte, GISP, GIS Manager, Denver Water (CO)

Associate Program Chair: Ashley Hitt, GISP, Director GIS Services, Connected Nation (KY)
