    PETALING JAYA: Fathers,take home a tree sapling or abunga raya plant when youvisit The Star 's Green Festtomorrow.

    YTL Corporation has spon-sored 1,000 tree saplings andAeon Co (M) Bhd 200 hibiscusplants for daddies at the fest,to mark Fathers Day.

    These saplings and plantswill be given out at the greengifts booth in the exhibition area of the fest atthe Forest Research Institute of Malaysia(FRIM).

    Each dad, however, can only take one pick of either a sapling or a plant.

    At the same time, there are 1,000 greenreusable bags sponsored by UEM that will begiven out to the early birds at the booth.

    To get the saplings, plants or bags, the

    fathers must present either the Green Festpullout (available in StarWeekender today) orthe front page of Sunday Star .

    It will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.Fathers who had claimed their tree sapling

    or bunga raya plant would not be given thebags to allow more visitors to take home afreebie.

    Copies of The Star will besold at the circulationcounter and there will also becollection boxes for theHappy 50 contest forms here.

    StarYouth is also jumpingon the Green Fest bandwag-on, with youngsters from TheStar 's various youth pro-grammes doing their bit forthe environment.

    The Star has been organis-ing this annual environmentprogramme for youths overthe past three years.

    This year, participants from the P2P (Peer toPeer) Greeniz green programme will be show-casing their findings through an exhibition aswell as selling badges made of recycled bottle-caps.

    The BRATs (Bright, Roving, AnnoyingTeenagers) will conduct a drum circle andentertain the crowd with several music rou-tines.

    Kuntum, the magazine for children, will holda Let us Love Green colouring session and afuntime quiz with its mascot, Si Comel, at theauditorium between 10am and noon.

    500 customers to get hibiscus plantsKUALA LUMPUR: Visit Jusco stores at 1Utama in Bandar Utama and Taman Maluritoday and tomorrow and bring home a beauti-ful hibiscus plant.

    In conjunction with World EnvironmentDay, 500 lucky customers to go to each of the

    outlets on the two days will receive a small potof the national flower.Aeon Company Bhd public relations manag-

    er Shirley Chan said the company, which owns Jusco stores, wanted to support the environ-ment by encouraging customers to plant thehibiscus.

    She said planting trees and flowers couldhelp the environment by absorbing carbondioxide and releasing oxygen.

    In 2004, the company organised a treeplanting session at Paya Indah Wetlands

    where 30,000 trees were planted by 3,000 staff members, she said, adding that on June 30 thecompany's staff would go to the wetlands toreplant some 400 trees which had fallen down.

    To collect your plant, make your way to theinformation counter in 1 Utama (Jusco wing)

    and the customer service counter in theTaman Maluri outlet.Customers are required to present the front

    page of The Star to receive the plants.Meanwhile, Giant Hypermarket will be

    holding their green bag promotion this week-end at all their outlets.

    The bags will each be sold at RM2.49. Out of that, RM1 will go to a deserving non-govern-mental organisation.

    The Giant green bag is reusable and recy-clable.
