Set up your Intuit ID

SetupyourIntuitIDandcompleteyourregistrationtoaccessallthebenefitsofQuickenCanadaConnectedServices.TheseincludedownloadingyourbanktransactionsintoQuicken,receivinge-mailandtextalerts,gettingnotifiedin-productwhenafreeupdateisavailable,andaccessingQuickenSupport&QuickenLiveCommunity

IfyoualreadyuseotherIntuitproducts,likeTurboTaxorQuickBooks,youmayalreadyhaveanIntuitID.

1. FillintheinformationtosetupyourIntuitIDandcompleteyourregistration.

2. IfyoualreadyhaveanIntuitID,clicktosigninandcompleteyourregistration.

Categorize your transactions

Categorizingyourtransactionsletsyouseewhereyou’respendingyourmoney.ThegoodnewsisthatQuickendoesmostofthisworkautomaticallyforyou!

Quickenassignscategoriestoyourtransactionswhenitdownloadsthemfromyourbank.Forexample,ifyouusedyourbankcardatSobey’s,QuickenknowsthatSobey’sisagrocerystoreanditautomaticallyassignsthecategoryFood & Dining:Groceriestothetransaction.

Inmostcases,Quickencanaccuratelyguessthecategory.Insomecases,however,itwon’trecognizethetransactionthefirsttimeitseesit—forexample,yourrentcheque.Quickenalsomightassignacategorytoatransactionthatyoudon’twant—forexample,duringthattriptoSobey’syoumayhaveboughtpetfood,whichyouwanttotrackunderthecategoryPets:Pet Food & SuppliesinsteadofFood & Dining:Groceries.Naturally,you’llwanttoassignthecorrectcategoriestoyourtransactions.Here’show…

Use the spending tab to categorize transactions

ThestepsbelowusetheSpendingtabtoassignacategorytoatransaction.TheprocessisidenticalifyouuseaQuickenaccountregister.However,akeyadvantageofusingtheSpendingtabisthatitalertsyouifyouhaveanyuncategorizedtransactions.

1. ClicktheSpendingtab.TheSpendingtabshowsyouthetransactionsfromyourspendingaccounts.Italsohasacoolpiechartthatshowsyouwhereyourmoneyisgoing.

2. Clickthetransactionthatyouwanttochangethecategoryfor.
