Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the six largest lake in the U.S. after the five great lakes located along the border between California and Nevada.

It is the second deepest after Crater Lake.

The lake was shaped 2 million years ago as part of the Lake Tahoe Basin during the ice ages.

Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon is located by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona.

It is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide with a depth of 1,857 meters.

Native Americans lived within the Canyon and considered it a holy site.

The first European to see the Canyon was Spanish, García López de Cárdenas in 1540.

Monfragüe

Monfragüe National Park is located in the province of Caceres in the autonomous community of Extremadura.

It is most famous for its’ diversity in wild life and birds especially eagles and vultures.

The river Tietar runs along the valley through the park and joins the river Tagus on the east side.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu, on Oahu’s south shore is the capital of Hawaii and home to the USS Arizona Memorial in memory of the WWII attack on the U.S, Pearl Harbor.

It has Diamond Head with a height over 232 meters and a crater of 3,520 feet in diameter.

It is 150,000 years old but the Ko’olau mountain range is 2.6 million years old.

Scientists don’t believe it will erupt again.
