GBS and IFGP missionGBS with its partner Institut de Formation de Gestionnaire de Patrimoine (IFGP) are responsible for the professional development of individuals assuming leadership functions in the finance field. Since 1998 the preparation of the CFA exams in Geneva, GBS and IFGP provide excellent support to prepare your success for the CFA exams in the best possible conditions.

The three levels of the CFA programThe CFA program is based on three levels, each culminating in an examination.The Level I curriculum and examination focus on tools and concepts that apply to investment valuation and portfolio management. Level I also includes an overview of the processes of asset valuation and portfolio management.The Level II curriculum and examination focus on asset valuation. Candidates must apply the tools and concepts emphasized at Level I in analysing and valuing investments, and should have a thorough under- standing of industry and company analysis.The Level III curriculum and examination explore in greater depth the discipline of portfolio management. Candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge of the entire portfolio management process and must be capable of applying the concepts learned at Levels I and II to the portfolio management process.

Why choose to study the CFA Program at GBS?Studying for the CFA exam is like training for a marathon. You would never run 26.2 miles without proper training and discipline. Studying too little and starting too late represent the biggest obstacles to achieving your goals.The CFA exams are becoming increasingly difficult. A huge quantity of material has to be acquired. Candidates cannot digest the quantity of material in a three or five day seminar.Attending a preparation course can avoid panic learning in the last month prior to the exam. Classes have a maximum of 15 students and interactive pedagogical approach allows candidates to answer individual questions in the classroom.Students will learn to adopt a disciplined and focused learning approach.

The four step approachThe CFA Program of GBS consists of approximately 200 lessons for CFA Level I. The duration for the course preparation is seven months from October to May or a three month intensive session from September to November. The courses are structured according to a four step approach:

Step 1 - Preparation program - Designed to help establish a sound foundation before the beginning of the formal study;Step 2 - Repetition program - Based on the comprehension of the Learning Outcome Statements (LOS);Step 3 - Exam preparation program - Contains a review of critical topics using previous exam questions and new examples compiled using the material from the professor;Step 4 - Self study - The most personal and final step consisting of self testing techniques, required to succeed in the CFA Level I exam.

MentoringOur mentoring service is part of our goal to give students the real link in a business school between the academic and professional worlds, by having a personal mentor shadow them throughout their research projects in the latter stages of the degree.

LanguagesMost of the courses at GBS are taught in English and prepare students for success in an international company or a bank. Other languages such as French, German or Chinese are also taught at GBS. Furthermore, the school prepares students for language diplomas.
