Last time: Hot shooting leads virginia past bonnies (Box Score on pg. 22)

CHarLottesvILLe, va. – An 18-6 run to open the second half and 50 percent shooting helped ACC foe Virginia hand St. Bonaventure a 72-64 loss on Monday night at John Paul Jones Arena. The loss ends non-conference play for the Bonnies and moves their record to 12-3 heading into Atlantic 10 action this weekend. Virginia now stands at 11-3 heading into the start of its league play and extending its win streak to four games. All-American guard Monica Wright did most of her damage in the second half, once again leading the way for the Cavaliers, finishing with team-highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Teammates Lexie Gerson and Whitny Edwards added 13 and 11 points, respectively Sophomore Jessica Jenkins shot a season-best 70 percent (7-for-10), going 6-for-8 from the long range to lead the Bonnies with 22 points. Senior Dana Mitchell knocked in 18 points (5-of-11) and a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. For the game, St. Bonaventure shot 41 percent (20-49) from the field while having another perfect day from the line shooting 16-for-16. On the other side, Virginia shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field for the best defensive shooting against St. Bonaventure this season. Virginia held a 33-21 edge on the glass and converted 20 points off St. Bonaventure’s 13 turnovers. The Cavalier bench also outscored the Brown and White 26-8. The 21 rebounds are a season-low of the Bonnies.

It’s raining tHrees The Brown and White have scored at least one three-pointer in 177 games dating back to 2004. The last time the Bonnies failed to convert a three-point basket in a game was on February 14, 2004 against Temple.
