Balancing fruit and mineral notes with ripe flavors, and a refreshing crispness, our Grüner Veltliner captures the essential character of the varietal. Long, mild autumns in the protected site of our Josef Vineyard allow for the slow-ripening varietal to attain full flavor. Shale-dominated soil on a gently descending slope contributes pronounced minerality and a delicate orchard fruit aroma that broadens on the palate. Underlying citrus acidity hints at the versatility of this wine when pairing.

Our MethodsAAt Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, meticulous viniculture standards and ecologically enhancing vineyard management enable us to produce estate wines of balance and complexity with minimal additives. We depend on cover crops and organic compost to improve biodiversity in our soils and have eliminated herbicides from our vineyard sites. We hand harvest and hand sort our grapes which in turn reduces the use of sulfur in our fields and in the winery. Our fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts and we eschew any fining or filtering agents. Our wines are therefore vegan and gluten-free.

CentCentral to the care we take in our production is the HJW Vine Nursery. The nursery is a repository for decades of regional expertise and a platform for tailoring our vineyard approach with careful precision. It is a key link between our healthy soils, robust vines, and the excellence that we strive for in every wine.
