Out of favour for everyday wear for decades, hats are once again being valued as accessories that will give a lift to any outfit. Our Technical Editor,

Kirstie McLeod, has designed a hat that uses an openwork cable, so it’s lighter and cooler to wear than a solid stitch. “It may be too warm for a sunny day,” Kirstie says, “but on cooler days and in the evenings it should be comfortable.” If you’re planning a family camping holiday, one of these should definitely be in your luggage!
