January 2, 2014 Dear Plantation Golf & Country Club Members, Happy New Year! Just as the crystal ball descends upon the celebrating crowd at Time Square, a new and exciting year has descended upon us here at the Plantation Golf & Country Club. Pulte Homes and Hampton Golf are dedicated to enhancing the member experience at the Golf Club and are confident 2014 will be a banner year. With year-round gorgeous weather here in southwest Florida, we are finding more members are utilizing the veranda adjacent to the bar/dining room for enjoying lunch and or dinner. With this in mind, we are designating this area a non-smoking area. The center of the veranda directly off the lobby wrapping around toward the golf shop will be the designated area for smoking. We want to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation. Administration & Membership Department: The Full Golf Membership continues to grow as homes are built and purchased in Somerset at The Plantation. We have a total of 297 golf memberships. Thank you for making The Plantation your Florida home club. Full Golf Memberships are still available through initial retail purchases of new Somerset lots and residences within The Plantation if a membership agreement is submitted within 30 days after executing the real estate purchase contract. Why not take advantage of the Play Golf America Get Golf Ready Program. The golf professionals will offer five half-hour lessons on the game of golf. The cost of $99.00 per person will introduce you to all aspects of the game. Pace of play is important for the enjoyment of all members and guests, especially with the season in full swing. Please be ready when it is your turn to play by dropping your partner off at their ball and then driving to your ball. Measure your distance and make your club selection as soon as you get to your ball, park your golf cart so you don’t have to walk back toward the group following, take divot sand with you, and lastly write your score down when you get to the next tee. There are two Pace of Play clocks that have been installed on the course. The clocks’ time should represent the time you teed off from number 1. Our pace of play goal is 4 hours and 15 minutes or less.

There was a question recently why a member could not leave their golf clubs overnight if they were playing golf the next morning. Please understand there is a charge for golf club bag storage and thus it is not fair to the members who pay for the ability to store their golf clubs. Golf Course Maintenance: As we approach the coming winter season you will notice the turf growth slows down dramatically and thus healing of divots, ball marks and traffic wear takes longer. Please help us by repairing divots and ball marks and use the cart paths when possible. When not on the cart paths, remain in the fairways away from the rough and the lake banks. We will continue to groom, spike and topdress the greens, along with vertically slicing the worn compact areas we find in the roughs. The cooler temperatures do have positive influences on green speeds as they will begin to increase.

We’ve battled some early disease pressure on the greens over the past month which accounts for the off color and/or less than ideal playing surfaces you might have experienced. We are confident that we won the battle as the greens are healthy and ready for a season of play. On behalf of The Plantation and Hampton Golf team, we would like to thank you for your continued support of the club and the opportunity to serve you. Sincerely, Doug Brown Andrew Dailidonis MGOrender General Manager Regional Manager, Hampton Golf President,Hampton Golf
