year that our cafeteria has built it into the regular cafeteria breakfast cycle.

• The cafeteria will work with us by supplying and featuring new items we have introduced – whole grain bagels, low fat cheeses, veggies, toppings of dried fruit, nuts or peanut butter.

• With our input from our student surveys last year our cafeteria will incorporate foods into the menu well liked by our students.

Fuel Up Friday Nutrition PlayBuild a Better Breakfast

Fuel Up Friday Oatmeal Breakfast BarWhat - Hot oatmeal with healthy toppings including fresh and frozen fruits, low fat and fat free milk, yogurt and dried fruits and nuts.

Where – In the cafeteria

When – Once a month before school

Cost – Breakfast is available free of charge to all students

How – Oatmeal is prepared by cafeteria staff with the Fuel Up Team providing themed toppings

Who –Fuel Up Advisors select oatmeal toppings and student ambassadors assist with preparation, serving and program promotion. 

Healthy Eating/Physical Activity PlaySustainable and Specific

1. Fat-free and low-fat dairy – will be featured in our school wide events and lunch salad bar. Greek yogurt, low-fat cheese varieties, low fat white, strawberry, chocolate milk, yogurt and fruit for smoothies

2. Whole grains – used as options for our school wide events. Options include granola, whole grain oatmeal, whole grain tortillas, whole grain cereal, breads, muffins and bagels

3. Fruits and vegetables –events include fresh and frozen fruits, juices w/o added sugar, dried fruits and fruit leathers. Vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, peppers, coconut, celery, tomatoes or breakfast, lunch and served at school wide events. Fresh fruit smoothies as class awards.
