FTMSGlobal 29th Convocation Ceremony 26th November 2017 • Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)
The FTMS Malaysia 29th Convocation Ceremony
was held on Saturday 25th November. The venue
for this important event was again the Kuala
Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) where almost
2,000 guests, students and VIPs were in
attendance.
The Convocation Ceremony was for FTMS
students who had successfully completed their
programmes of study in Malaysia.
Representation from partner universities was
provided by Professor Iain Martin, Vice
Chancellor, Anglia Ruskin University, Dr Trevor
Bolton, Pro Vice Chancellor (Partnerships), Anglia
Ruskin University and Professor Hassan Abdalla,
Pro Vice Chancellor, University of East London
who conferred degrees and congratulated their
students and spoke to the assembly.
FTMS senior management present included Mr.
Balbeer Singh Mangat, Founder and Group CEO
of FTMSGlobal, Datin Sabariah Abdul Karim,
Chairman, FTMS Malaysia, Dr. Sajlal Divakaran,
CEO and Principal of FTMS, Malaysia, Mr. Trevor
Ward, Academic Manager, FTMS Malaysia, Dr.
Mohammad Adam Bakar, Dean, Academic, FTMS
Malaysia, Mr. Tan Kee Haow, Head of Quality
Assurance, FTMS Malaysia, Mr. Zubair Hassan,
Head, School of Accounting, Business and
Management and Mr. Zainudin Johari, Head,
School of Engineering and Computing Sciences.
During the ceremony over 500 students received
their scrolls and were congratulated on their
success. Of special note was the graduation of
almost 200 students who received their
certificates for successfully completing the Anglia
Ruskin MBA programme.

I also give my sincere thanks and
appreciation to all who have contributed to
the success of the graduates by providing the
necessary support financially, physically and
emotionally.

Principal
Across the Diet 37% Masters graduates achieved distinction or merit,
10% Bachelor graduates achieved first class degrees with a further
70% achieving second class degrees. These results are comparable
with those achieved by students who study for the same degrees in the
UK. This is a reflection of their application to their studies and the skill
and commitment of the faculty at FTMS.
Taking diploma and degree awards together Anglia Ruskin University
accounted for some 54% of all the course awards conferred, or 63% of
degrees. About half of these were the very popular ARU MBA which
has the attraction, especially for those who are already in work, that
student assessment does not involve written examinations. Also
popular are ARU first degrees in HR Management, International
Management, Marketing, Accounting & Finance and Business
Management.
The University of East London has proved popular with students at
Masters and first degree levels for the degrees of Business Information
Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Networks and
Software Engineering.
