Flash Research Assignment: Apple iTunes and App Store

Prepare a diagram which describes this ecosystem.

Envision a new digital product or service that can be delivered via this ecosystem. Prepare a 1

page paper that describes this product or service, explains how it will be delivered using this

ecosystem, and describes the business model which surrounds this new product or service.

The maximum length of the body of this paper is 1 page. Additional pages may be used for

optional diagrams and required references.

Apple iTunes & App Store – Outline 1. Hook

a. Idea + Business Case 2. Idea

a. Wireless syncing b. Once the device is within range of a ‘known iDevice’; it automatically syncs data.

i. Ex. If you have an iMacBook Pro, iPhone, and a PowerMac – it will automatically sync data such as calendars, files, music, movies, and games.

3. Business Case

Flash Research Paper 7: Apple iTunes & App Store

Technology is ever-changing and people, like myself, are becoming lazy to the point where we do

not want to plug multiple devices to sync data. This type of behavior becomes more redundant and

requires use of time that can be used for other tasks. Since we, Apple, are the leading innovators in our

industry – it is proposed that we begin research in developing a device capable of syncing data

automatically and wirelessly; as long it is with in the same network and is in range.

Imagine coming home from a long and hard day at work. You realize that you need to sync your

calendar with the updates in your iPhone to your iCalendar on your MacBook Pro. Instead of opening the

computer and plugging your iPhone with the computer, you do nothing! Your computer, running on a low

power-save option automatically detects your iPhone in range and begins syncing data wirelessly!

Everything is done in real-time as long as the devices are in the same “Grouped Network” and within

range of one-another. This will save the user time and let them focus on more important things; such as

sitting down and eating food in front of the television running Apple TV; which simultaneously syncs

downloaded movies, music, videos to the user’s MacBook and iPhone.

By implementing this device, Apple will be able to increase profits because it will be the pioneer

in automatic wireless-syncing. The “research and development” costs will vary depending on the

availability of the parts needed to build the device into the newer models of the Apple hardware devices

such as iPhone or the MacBook Pro. Just how the iPhone was able to help promote the Apple name, the

wireless-syncing will help Apple pave the road for more innovative devices.
