Julie is a sixth grade assistant teacher who has taken on this position, and we are excited to have her and look forward to the continued development of Chadashot as a way of sharing our story with our parents, grandparents, lay leaders, and the broader community. Our first full week of school began with an appropriate 9/11 commemoration, focusing on Hakarat Hatov to the members of the 50th Precinct, our local police department. We are grateful to the officers who joined us, led by community liaison Mindy Ramos, who addressed our students at the ceremony. Thank you to the PTC for a successful mini mall last week, and to all of the volunteers who spent months coordinating the event. Beginning this week, we will be attaching a new feature to Chadashotone of our parents, Gal Naor, has been instrumental in developing and translating a weekly Daf Yomi for Us pamphlet, which summarizes relevant and meaningful excerpts from each week's Daf, and also includes some ideas for Shabbat table discussions. We will be sending home hard copies with our middle school students, and including a PDF version for all (in English and in Hebrew) in the Chadashot. I hope that you enjoy this wonderful publication, and it leads to meaningful Talmud Torah for you and your children over Shabbat. To highlight our individuality each student drew a selfshyportrait on a puzzle piece that will come together to form a muraldepicting how our class ldquomakes a great fitrdquo After focusing on our individual distinguishing features we then worked inpartners to get to know one another better and to discover commonalities and differences between us This activityengendered and enhanced friendships that will make our classroom community stronger

Next we will explore how each of us can contribute to making our classroom community a better place to learn andgrow
