Saturday Night Entertainment Naked Soul Naked Soul is an acoustic duo of husband and wife, Brian and Deanna Belaire. Their shared love for music and passion for entertainment has taken them on an amazing journey for the past six years . Performing everything from Janis Joplin to Adele, from 60's to today, their raw sound and soulful style will be sure to captivate your musical soul. Deanna can easily be compared to the raspy likes of Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks. While Brian plays

guitar and accompanies with harmonies. It is sure to be an awesome night!

Latin Groove

Unlimited

Zoi Monroy Velásquez wants to share the joy she feels when dancing to the Latin rhythm. Zoi was born in Venezuela, where she says there is music inside every human being. Warm up the body and work out your booty in this invigorating hour-long Latin dance workout. Class will begin with some yoga stretches to loosen up the body. Then, participants will learn basic salsa and bachata dance steps. Then, practice those steps to a hot Latin beat. Wear comfortable exercise clothing and footwear with slippery soles. (ie anything but running shoes, socks are OK)…Come on out and get your Latin groove going!!!

Zoi has been teaching salsa in Sudbury since the fall of 2009.

We are delighted to have you with us as we celebrate our 25th Women's Wellness Weekend (aka Ladies Spa Weekend) at John Island Camp.

As part of our birthday festivities, we ask that you stop by the craft table next to the Penny Table and make a star necklace to be worn on Saturday night indicating how many of our weekends you have attended. The necklaces need time to dry so make sure to do it early!

Please add a touch of silver to your Saturday night outfit to celebrate our silver anniversary!

The Simple Joy of Singing

Unlimited

"The only thing better than singing is more singing". Ella Fitzgerald.

This workshop, conducted by KC Rautiainen, is a great opportunity for women to gain some basic knowledge and skills in a fun and pressure-free setting. Experience the joy of singing as a community and celebrate as voices are combined in song. Joining with other voices manifests the closet vocal enthusiast in all of us. During this session, participants will do fun vocal exercises and learn at least one song with a sophisticated end result...a performance-ready, harmony-rich song. No experience necessary.

KC Rautiainen is a Vocal Director/Performer with 25 years of experience.

Chakra Workshop and Meditation

Maximum 15

Many of us are exploring ways to reduce stress in our daily lives. Meditation, yoga and mindfulness are some of the methods being recommended by health care providers and often, references are made to chakras. What are chakras?

This workshop will give the participants a basic knowledge of the chakra system and how the chakras affect our well-being (body, mind and spirit) on a daily basis.

The seven main chakras are each a different colour, reflecting everything from how we feel (red/passion or anger or yellow/joy or vibrant), how we decorate and organize our homes and offices and even how we eat (greens for the heart, orange for the urinary tract, kidneys and liver) to nourish our physical bodies.

A twenty minute guided mediation will follow to assist in relaxation and realigning the chakras.

Charmaine Kennedy is the owner of Tree of Life North in Sudbury and is a Reiki Master/Teacher.

Dream Catcher Workshop Unlimited

This interactive workshop will teach you how to make a dream catcher. Taught in an engaging

way, anyone can learn how to make one. This cultural object is more than just a Native

American craft used to help protect the spirit while we sleep. Dream Catchers are also tools to

show us the inter-connectedness of all things and our relationship with nature. No skill or

tools needed. All supplies provided. Please bring a small personal item

(small stone, piece of cloth, old ring / ear-ring, buttons, etc...) that will be added to the

dream catcher to give it your energy.

Will Morin is a local artist and educator of Ojibway / Scottish/ French Canadian ancestry.

More information and examples of his artwork can be found on his website:

www.artofwillpower.ca.

(Cost for materials is $5).

PADDLE AND PAINT Maximum 10

Join Marlies Schoenefeld as you paddle to an island to paint a landscape with watercolour. All you need to bring is a sense of adventure and the will to try something new.

(Cost for materials is $5).

WALK AND PAINT

Maximum 10

After a short walk Marlies Schoenefeld will instruct the group to paint a simple landscape in watercolour.

(Cost for materials is $5).

BIRDING/NATURE/PHOTO WALK

Unlimited

You will be able to see a variety of birds in different habi-tats, enjoy a quiet morning watching them and learning more about their lives. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

Marlies and Dieter Schoenefeld are naturalists and they will be your guides .

The session will finish with a Back-to-Nature stretch. This workout will appeal to all ages and fitness levels. Wear your old workout shoes, bring a towel and a pair of light gloves. You will get dirty! Dawn Condon is a YMCA certified Fitness Leader and Wellness coach with over 20 years of experience. This session will take 1.5 hours.

HIGH ROPES/CHALLENGE COURSE ELEMENTS

The John Island High Ropes/Challenge Course Elements are a series of program areas that provide excitement and intrigue amongst the trees at John Island. Our highly trained staff safely and properly supervises all elements. Some of the following elements will be part of the schedule during the weekend:

Suspended 60 feet in the air, our Zip Line is 400 feet long. Put on a harness, get tied

YOGA Unlimited People come to yoga for different reasons. Most are looking for a way to improve their health. Others are interested in effective tools to manage stress. Still others seek personal and spiritual growth. Kripalu Yoga offers all these things. It's a practice that revitalizes the body, calms the mind and deepens self-awareness. Kripalu means being compassionate in Sanskrit. Show your body, mind and spirit compassion by joining Kathy Jermyn for a Kripalu Yoga class.

Bocce

This popular Italian game of bowls is traditionally played on a court but here at John Island it is played on the

beach! Marlies and Dieter will explain the game and help you get started.
