Upma Chowdhary named first woman director of LBSNAA Upma Chowdhary was appointed as new Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) at Mussoorie. She will be the 23rd director and first woman director of LBSNAA. She will replace Rajeev Kapoor. Upma Chowdhary is a 1983 batch IAS officer of Himachal cadre. Currently, she is posted as Additional Chief Secretary in Himachal Pradesh. During her 33 years’ service as an IAS officer, she had served in several positions in the state and at the centre.

Upma Chowdhary named first woman director of LBSNAA

Upma Chowdhary was appointed as new Director of Lal

Union Government constitutes Amitabh Kant Committee to push cashless

transactions

The Union Government has constituted a new

committee to form a strategy to expedite the process of

transforming India into a cashless economy. The

committee will be headed by Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh

Kant. It has been tasked with identifying various

bottlenecks affecting access of digital payments. Identify

and operationalise in the earliest possible time frame user-friendly digital payment options in

all sectors of the economy. Identify various digital payment systems appropriate to different

sectors of the economy and coordinate efforts to make them accessible.

Indian Railways to introduce Tri-Netra to check collisions

Indian Railways will soon introduce Tri-Netra (terrain imaging

for diesel drivers infrared, enhanced optical and radar assisted)

system on its trains to reduce train accidents. Tri-Netra is an

advance system is made up of a high-resolution optical video

camera, high-sensitivity infrared video camera and a radar-

based terrain mapping system. These three components will act

as three eyes (Tri-Netra) of the Locomotive Pilot. The requirement for this advance system

gained more pace after 14 bogies of the Patna-bound Indore-Rajendra Nagar Express went off

the tracks near Kanpur Dehat on 20 November 2016. It was one of the worst railway accidents

in recent times in which over 146 passengers and 200 people were injured.

Constitution day is observed on November 26

The Samvidhan Diwas or the Constitution Day

of India is being observed on 26th November to

spread awareness of Indian Constitution. On

this day in 1949, constitution of India was

adopted and came into force on January 26,

1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the

history of free India. The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) is the

nodal Ministry for the celebration of Constitution Day. This year it is second edition of the

Constitution Day. On this occasion Prime Minister Narendra has released two books on

Constitution ‘Making of Constitution’ and ‘New Version of Constitution of India‘.

Indian Navy’s seventh landing craft utility L-57 launched by GRSE

Indian Navy’s seventh landing craft utility (LCU)

L-57 was launched by Garden Reach Shipbuilders

and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) in Kolkata, West

Bengal. LCU L-57 is the largest ship of this kind

built anywhere in the world. It is the seventh

vessel in the series of eight LCU Ships being

designed and built by GRSE for the Indian Navy. LCU L-57 is fully designed in-house by GRSE.

It is designed for a maximum speed of 15 knots with an endurance of more than 1,500 nautical

miles. It has a capability to transport two tanks or four special vehicles and 160 Army troops for

landing in remote area.

Rajasthan Government to launch Annapurna Rasoi Programme to provide quality

meal at cheap price

Rajasthan Government has decided to start Annapurna Rasoi Programme to provide quality

meal at cheap and affordable price to people belonging to the

weaker section and labourers. The main beneficiary of the

scheme will be rickshaw pullers, labourers, auto drivers,

students, working women, elders and other weaker section.

The food under this programme will be provided at

subsidized rates, breakfast at Rs 5 per plate and lunch/dinner

at Rs 8 per plate. In the first phase the scheme will be started in 12 districts. They are Jaipur,

Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Baran

and Jhalawar.
