NOTE: These steps presume that glass tiles are being added toan existing installation complete with skin and an installed topcap. If new installation is being fitted with glass tiles, omit step 3.

1. Remove the top cap from the panel to which the glass tile isto be mounted.

NOTE: If the skins are slat skins, it is necessary to remove theskin. If a cabinet prevents complete removal, release thetop hook of the skins so they can hinge about the bottom hookand swing out approximately 1/2" at the top to allow room toinsert the drill template and also install the screws.

2. Verify that the horizontal beam is fully seated. This can be doneusing a short (approximately 8" in length) 2" x 4" wood block and ahammer as shown.

NOTE: Skin and end trim removed from illustration for clarity.

IF THE HORIZONTAL BEAM DOES NOT HAVE PRE-DRILLEDHOLES IN THE HORIZONTAL BEAM:

3. Place the drill template (service part T511082SR) on the top of thehorizontal beam (3a). Slide the template so that the end of it contactsthe junction post flush (3b). Mark the four (4) holes, as shown, using a3/16" diameter drill bit (3c). Remove the drill template and drill the four(4) holes through the top of the horizontal beam with the 3/16" diameterdrill bit (3d). Repeat on the other end of the horizontal beam.

NOTE: Start the 3/16" diameter drill bit in thefour (4) holes to mark the hole locations thenremove the drill template before completingthe drilling operation.

4. Install four (4) 1/4-20 x 3/4" flat head gimble point hex capscrews to attach the pylon to the horizontal beam. In a newinstallation, the holes will be in the beam. Repeat for theopposite end of the panel.

5. If the tile spans over a panel joint, a light blocker must beinstalled at the panel joint.

6. Install the frameless glass top cap, aligning the oblong hole withthose in the pylon. These will be the holes nearest to the post in aninline same height installation. In a change-of-height installation theholes in the top cap at one end will align with the center hole in thepylon for square trim, and will align with the second hole in the pylonfor thin trim.

7. Occasionally there may be a gap between the top cap and the pylon due to normal variation in the manufacturing process. If there is a gap, place the provided shim between the pylon and the top cap to prevent deformation of the top cap.

8. Fasten the stanchion to the top cap using the supplied flat headscrew. Align the side of the stanchion parallel to the side of the topcap.

9. Place an insulator into each stanchion. Make sure to insertthe locator pin, on the insulator, into the hole in the stanchion.

10. Insert the glass tile into the stanchions as shown. Press theglass tile firmly downward to ensure seating into the insulator.

11. Align the glass tile and tighten the set screwson each end according to figures 1 through 4 on thenext page. The glass tile will be firmly seated to thestanchion when this is complete.

NOTE: The tightening torque should be 31 in-lbs.

NOTE: The final tightening should be done with theleft set screw because the rotation of the screw putsa downward force on the insulator and the glass.

Vertical Alignment of the TopEdge of the TilesWhen glass tiles are placed end toend, the top edges should bealigned within 1/32" at the ends.Variations in the width of the glassand the vertical location of thestanchion can result in a tile to tilestep. This step can be eliminated inmost cases by a removal or additionof a shim at the bottom of theinsulator. It can be seen in figure 1that the insulator comes with a shimattached to one edge. If the tile endis lower than the tile end of theadjoining tile, the shim can be addedresulting in a raising by 1/32" of the

lower tile end. If a step is yetpresent, an additional shim can beadded to the stanchion which willraise it up to give a better alignment.Planer Alignment of Glass TilesIn the event that two end to end tilesare not in alignment an adjustmentcan be made by adjusting the setscrews in the stanchions. Figure 2shows the glass tile leaning to theleft. To adjust the tile to vertical asshown in figure 3, the right setscrew should be backed out byturning it to the left two to three fullturns. Then the left set screw is installed inward until the tile becomes vertical or aligns endwise to the

adjacent tile. If the desired rotation is not achieved, the procedure can berepeated.

Referring to figure 4 an adjustment to the left is indicated. The first step is to back out the left set screw and then screw the right set screw inward until the tile rotates into thedesired position. As previouslystated, the final tightening should bedone with the left set screw.
