• Provide an overview of changes made to the code and methodology described in ANP-10323P Revision 0

• Discuss Framatome's plans for ANP-10323P Revision 1 and for responding to RAls, with the objectives of:

+ Reaching agreement on the proposed plan

+ Aligning resource plans to promptly resume the NRC review


Background

• Framatome (formerly known as AREVA) submitted ANP-10323P for review and approval in August 2013.

-• After extensive discussions between Framatome and NRC in

2015, RAls were issued in March 2016.

• In November 2015, Framatome revised the requested review and approval to remove the BWR and MOX scope. An unofficial mark-up was provided identifying portions of the topical report that were no longer in scope.

• Also in November 2015, Framatome informed NRC about a code stability issue with the GALILEO code, and later requested that the NRC suspend the review until the issue was resolved.

Code Stability Issue Original Symptoms

Questioning attitude helped uncover the issue during update of the statistical methodology automation tool + Common automation tool used for both R0DEX4 and GALILEO analyses

-+ Automation had to be updated to incorporate new BWR functionality which should

have no impact on PWR applications + Engineer decided to re-run GALILEO PWR sample cases as additional test cases and

noticed unexpected differences due to slight differences in input round-off
