Apple will take the wrist based phone companion device mainstream.
Look for:
o Increased tolerance by consumers of notifications
o More in-the-moment utilities that extend product experiences
wearables and the apple watch
mobile walletsExplosive growth starting in 2015
o Apple Pay is jumpstarting the technology after several false starts
o No clear leader in the space, don’t rule Banking institutions out
proximity

physical objects will grow to 26 billion units by
2020 (excluding smartphones, tablets and
laptops), and IoT product and service
suppliers will generate incremental revenue of
more than $300 billion in 2020.
o Many more smart devices & digital extensions of
everyday objects
o Also ecosystems of connected devices and smart
consumer packaged goods that work together to
provide richer experiences
The overarching theme here is mobile technology, context, digital services and smart products coming together in a new way to provide truly onmichannel experiences for consumers.
We’ll see this start to develop in both the purchase experience in retail stores and in product usage at home in 2015, but with so many systems, tools and technologies to adopt, develop and deploy (not to mention organizational silos to knock down), we’re only just getting a foot onto the bottom rung.
Nevertheless, this represents a huge shift for consumers and a massive opportunity for brands willing to get out front.
