Four Types of Sentences

Declarative Sentence

A declarative sentence makes a statement. It ends with a period.

My teacher loves to teach math.

Interrogative Sentence

An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends in a question mark.

Do you think we will have recess today?

Exclamatory Sentence

An exclamatory sentence shows strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation mark.

I can’t believe the principal can yell that loud!

Interjection

An interjection is a word or a group of words that expresses strong feeling. It is not a complete sentence.
