Impact Zone offers aTexas Hold ’em Tournament beginning April 1Texas Hold ‘em is back at the Impact Zone on April 1, 29 and May 27. Sign-up at 5:30 p.m., the game starts at 6 p.m. The Impact Zone will host another Texas Hold ’em event with the finals on June 17 when the stakes are even higher. Community Dinner served April 1 at Patriot ClubThe Community Membership Dinner is April 1 at the Patriot Club. The dinner will feature tossed salad, zesty baked Tilapia, bourbon glazed ham, buttery sweet peas, twice-baked potatoes, rolls, dessert and beverages. RSVP by calling 442-4120. Cocktails are at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. The dinner is free to club members and costs $16.50 for non-members; $7.75 for children 12 and under, and is free to chil-dren, 5 and under. Fitness in the Park offered Saturdays beginning April 2The Lawton Fort Sill community is invited to get active with the Fitness in the Park classes. The free classes are from 9-10 a.m. every Saturday beginning April 2 at the lakeside stage on the east side of Elmer Thomas Park. Classes include: Zumba with Diana Faulk, April 2; Cardio Kickboxing with Thomas Felder, April 9; Boot Camp/Fierce Fitness with Amanda Harris and Jamal Richardson, April 16; Cardio and Core Attack with Claudia Mejia, April 23; and Belly Dancing with Kellina Vanpool, April 30. The free classes are offered to the community through a partnership with Fort Sill Family and Morale, Wel-fare and Recreation, Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, Lawton Parks and Recreation and the Comanche County Health Department. Women get back to Nature with Outdoor Recreation Archery class April 2, 6Discover your inner Robin Hood and learn how to shoot a bow and arrow with other women when Out-door Recreation hosts a free Archery class April 2 and 6 at the Wildlife Refuge. The event is free and is part of the new Women in Nature program. Women, 18 and older, will learn the basics of archery and get outside and active. Family & MWR offers variety of events for Month of the Military ChildMilitary children are an integral part of the Army family and to celebrate their contributions, April has been set aside as the Month of the Military Child. Fort Sill is proud to celebrate the Month of the Military Child by hosting special events and programs throughout the month to show appreciation and respect to military children and youth for the contributions they bring to the military community. Some of the MOMC events include:• The Child Youth & School Services Parade is April 1 at Fort Sill Child Development Centers. Children from the centers will parade around the three centers.• A Parent Open House is April 1from 6-7 p.m. at the School Age Center. Parents will tour the facility and see some of the activities and programs their children are involved with. They will also meet the staff and refreshments will be served.• Nye Library will receive a special visit by the Tail Waggin’ Tutors from the Red Cross April

2 from 1-3 p.m. If you love dogs and love to read, stop by Nye Library and see how the Tail Waggin’ Tutors introduce kids to dogs and teach them a little bit about how dogs can help people – even when it comes to reading. The Tail Waggin’ Tutors will join the staff for a few stories. Children are invited to stick around for the craft after the story. • To celebrate April, Month of the Military Child, the RecPlex will show children’s movies April 5 from noon-4 p.m. and the games systems will be available for play. • The CDC Wheels Day is April 7 in the parking areas of the CDCs from 9:30–11:30 a.m. • The Youth Center will host a MOMC Lock-in April 8–9 from 10 p.m.-7:45 a.m. Space limited to 45 and there is no cost. Participants must be 6th through 12th graders who are a registered member with the Youth Center. Only a permission slip will reserve your space. • The Toddler Olympics are April 8 for the special playgroup for children 5 and under at Rinehart Fitness Center from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Every child is a superstar so bring the parents to Toddler Olympics and show off toddler’s developing talents. • Join the staff and patrons of Nye Library April 9 for the Saturday Movie Matinee from 1-3 p.m. Showing is the movie, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” (PG). There will be free juice and popcorn. A guardian must remain with children under 8 years old. • The Youth Center MOMC Dance is April 9 from 7-9 p.m. The dance is free to registered mem-bers in 6th through 12th grade. Each member can bring one guest to the dance at the Youth Center, 1721 Gruber Road. • The National Library Appreciation Museum Display will be offered April 10-16 at Nye Library. Come in and view some of the “retired” tools used in a variety of library services. And join us for a craft on April 16 from 1-3 p.m. • Story Time at Nye Library is April 13 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Follow the exploits of PJ Funnybunny as he goes on a quest to discover who PJ really is. • The SAC Fashion Show is April 14 at 6 p.m. • The Sports Office is hosting a MOMC Soccer Skills Challenge April 9 on Upton Field. The event, which begins at 2 p.m., is open to military children only. Divisions will be 12 and under; 10 and under; 8 and under; and 6 and under. The registration deadline is April 2. To register or for more information, call 442-5926. • The Teen versus Staff Basketball Game is April 15 at the Honeycutt Fitness Center from 7-9 p.m. Rumble, the mascot for the Oklahoma City Thunder will make a special guest appearance. Space is limited to the first 45 youth that turn in their permission slip to the Youth Center. Attendees must use YC transportation to game no privately owned vehicles. •The CDC’s Open House is April 16 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. • The CDC’s will host a Scholastic Book Fair April 18-22 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The Book Fair is open to all. • A Positive Behavior Support Workshop is April 19 at the Resiliency Training Center from 6:30–8 p.m.

• An Easter Egg Hunt is April 21 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the School Age Center for members. • Nye Library will offer the Puppet Theatre April 22 from 11 a.m.-noon. Children won’t want to miss the songs, the great puppet drama and crafting after the show. For information, call (580) 442-3806. • The Youth Center Youth and Staff Talent Show is April 22 starting at 6 p.m. Participants must be registered with CYS Services to perform and sign up by April 15 at the Youth Center. There will be great prizes for the contestants. Come see the Youth Center staff and teens showcase their talents. The Lawton Fort Sill com-munity is invited to come out to Butner/Cowan Field from 11a.m.–2 p.m. and experience a special time of excitement as children “hunt” for those special prize eggs and participate in an array of activities from pony rides, paint ball and inflatables to pictures with the Easter Bunny and so much more. The only cost is food and beverage concessions. • Nye Library will host an Easter Make and Take craft class on April 23 from 2-4 p.m. or until the supplies run out. All ages are welcome. There are crafts for children and adults. Join in the fun of making Easter crafts. The tournament will be a scramble start with four to five member teams beginning at each of the 18 holes. Entry is $5 per person. For more information, call 442-5858. • On Friday, April 30, the Exceptional Family Member Program families will take a Month of the Military Child trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo. The trip is open to all military families. Families will meet at Building 4700 at 9:30 a.m. To register, call 442-3393. • The Southwestern Oklahoma Teen Success Expo is Saturday, April 30 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Resiliency Training Center. The expo will feature information on training and educational pro-grams, volunteer and intern opportunities, jobs, resume writing and interviewing tips. Registration is free but space is limited. Children age birth to 7 years old can receive an MWR certificate for every three books they check out and read. For children who cannot read, parents may read to them. Children, ages 8-12 years old, can receive an MWR certificate for every two books they check out and read. Young adults, ages 13–18 years old, may receive an MWR certificate for every one book they check out and read. Books must be reading- level appropriate. CYSS extended hours for evening child care April 1The School Age Center and Grierson Child Development Center will be open Friday, April 1 from 7-11 p.m. for the Friday special opening. Nye Library’s Adult Book Club April 3 at 2 p.m.Join Nye Library’s Adult Book Club April 3 at 2 p.m. This month’s book is “The Back of Beyond,” by Barbara Bickmore. EFM program offers activities in April • The Exceptional Family Member Program families will go bowling at the Twin Oaks Bowling Center, April 7 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Two free games and shoes are included. • On Tuesday, April 19, EFMP will host an Autism Concepts Workshop/Positive Behavior Support group from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Resiliency Training Center. SKIES Italian Cooking Lessons offered April 23Students, 7 years and older, are invited to sign-up for Italian Cooking lessons offered April 23. The les-sons are offered at the School Age Center, 6599 Lucas Road, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Instructor Daniela Scandian will teach students to prepare traditional main dishes and desserts from Italy. Parents can also join the fun and learn to prepare recipes of the Italian culture. The cost for each lesson is $12. Call 442-4831 for more information.

Boater Safety Class offered April 9A Boater Safety Class is April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort Sill Conference Center. Sign up for the free class at the RecPlex or at LETRA. Class is limited to 25 people, and books will be provided. At-tendees who complete the course will receive a boater’s safety course card. Sports program offers 4 on 4 Soccer Tournament April 9The Fort Sill Sports Program offers a 4 on 4 Soccer Tournament April 9 on Prichard Field. The tourna-ment is open to the public, 18 years old and older. Cost is $75 per team. There will be a team meeting April 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the RecPlex. Bill Smith Memorial Co-Op Golf Tourney April 12-14 at Fort Sill Golf CourseThe Bill Smith Memorial Co-Op Golf Tournament is April 12 through 14 at the Fort Sill Golf Course. A minimum of one Co-Op partner must be on each team. The tourney is limited to the first 60 teams and will be a 4-person scramble format. Greens fee is $15 per person and cart fee is $12.50. LETRA hosts monthly Fishing Tournament April 16 for crappieEveryone is invited to come out and test their fishing skills or just have some fun at LETRA’s Fishing Tournaments April 16. Participant will fish for a different species each time out. A valid Oklahoma State Fishing license is required and can be purchased at the LETRA Country Store. Easter Brunch is April 24 at Patriot ClubAn Easter Brunch is offered April 24 at the Patriot Club. Attendees can choose from two seating times -- 11 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. The price is $18.50 for adult non-members and $18 for adult members; $7.50 for children, ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. The menu includes a carving station, honey-glazed salmon, home fries, eggs, bacon, sausage, baby bakers, rice pilaf, Mediterranean flamed vegetables, a waffle station, salad station, rolls, beverages and assorted desserts. Volunteer Appreciation WeekApril 25 through 29 is Volunteer Week with events scheduled throughout the week. CG challenges community to get more active with walk April 29The commanding general has challenged the Fort Sill community, Soldiers, family members and civil-ians, to get fit through the Commanding General’s Challenge - Western Miles. The next scheduled walk is April 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Sill Polo Field. There will be a Health and Fitness Expo, with booths manned by Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Army Substance Abuse Program and Family & MWR. The Health and Fitness Expo starts at 10:30 a.m. onsite with fitness testing and health assessments for participants. At 11:30 a.m. there will be a Fitness Class Expo with demonstrations of different classes and programs. Maj. Gen. David Halverson, post commander, has challenged individuals to walk or run 100, 300, 600 or 1,000 miles and for families and teams to run or walk 1,200 miles. Final Friday is April 29 at Patriot ClubThe Headquarters Detachment of the Fires Center of Excellence will host Final Friday on April 29. Final Friday is a monthly leaders’ call in order to build personal and professional relationships and further the concept of Team Sill - Oklahoma Pride. Join the Fires Center of Excellence for Final Friday and enjoy free finger foods, pool, darts, drink specials and much more. Camp Cowabunga camper applications accepted April 1-29Camp Cowabunga, a one-week summer camp for children with moderate to severe special needs, is slated June 20-24 at the Fort Sill Patriot Club. Parents interested in sending their children, ages 6 to 21, to the camp may turn in applications April 1-29. Volunteer applications will be accepted April 1-May 20. Permits on sale now for May 7 Garage SalePermits go on sale April 1 for the Post-wide Garage Sale, which is May 7 in the 1-78th Field Artillery parking lot, on Crane Road next to the Behavioral Health Building 2442, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Permits for Family & MWR authorized patrons who wish to sell in the parking lot cost $15. Permits may be purchased at FMWR Headquarters or the Equipment Checkout Center located in the RecPlex, 2502 Sheridan Road. The event is open to the public for shopping. Twin Oaks Bowling Center high school teams place in StateTwin Oaks Bowling Center would like to congratulate all six local high school teams and the two junior varsity teams who practiced at the bowling center this season. All six teams went to the regional competi-tion at Sooner Bowl in Norman, Okla. on Feb. 19, where all of the teams qualified and started the bracket play, going for the best three out of five games. The Eisenhower Varsity Team and the Lawton Varsity Girls team advanced to the finals and both won the regional titles. They advanced to the state level in Bartles-ville, Okla. Feb. 26, where they rolled an 8-game qualifier, to place them on the brackets. The Eisenhower Varsity team was cut out in the first round of bracket play, but not without rolling all of their games over 200, which was a great accomplishment. The Lawton Varsity Girls made it two more rounds to the final to be the State Champion runner-up for the 2011 High School Season.

P.H.A.T. Club competition underwayThe weight loss competition for members of the P.H.A.T. (Pretty Hot and Tempting) Club is underway. Members have divided into three teams and each team has a trainer as team leader. The teams are PHAT Babes, Team Caliente and Number One Stunners. The team leaders will also sign the teams up for the President’s Challenge and log in the hours exercised and the kind of activity performed by the team mem-bers. The team that wins a medal in the President’s Challenge and loses the most weight and body fat percent before July will win the competition and will be recognized with an award. Automotive Skills Center offers facility, staff and classes for automotive careThe Automotive Skills Center can fix your car if you don’t have time. The knowledgeable staff offers re-pairs, tune-ups, brake jobs, and more. Make your own vehicle repairs and save a bundle at the center. The center hosts automotive repair classes and movies every month. Classes include Automotive Computer, April 1; Advanced Electronic Ignition Part 1, April 7; Advanced Electronic Ignition Part 2, April 8; Sheet

Hourly care available at Grierson CDCThe Alice Grierson Child Development Center offers hourly care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, a Pre-K wrap-around care program and a part-time preschool and toddler program. The center’s hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for hourly care, Pre-K wrap-around care from 5:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for the part-time programs. There is limited space available. CYS Services offers range of services online with WebTracCYS Services offers a range of services with WebTrac, an online payment and pre-registration service for CYS Services. The online service offers online pre-registration for membership, enrollment in SKIES, Sports, EDGE, the Youth Center and School Age Center events. Patrons can request placement of their child or children on the CYSS waiting list and make hourly care appointments. WebTrac also allows fami-lies to print child care receipts, tax statements and pay child care household balances in conjunction with the billing cycle. Visit the site at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil. Patrons can begin pre-registration through WebTrac, and then a CYS Services representative will contact them for an appointment to finalize the registration process. SKIES Unlimited offers classes for school-age studentsSKIES Unlimited offers instructional classes for children, from infancy to adolescence, registered with CYS Services. Current classes include: Martial Arts, Ballet, Piano, Dance, Guitar, Zumba, Swimming, Free Babysitting Courses, Baby Sign Language workshops and Golf. Enrollment is ongoing and classes are paid for on a monthly basis. Parents should sign-up their children before the first day of each month prior to starting. Teens sign-up for summer Hired! term by May 2Teens 15-18 years old, can get valuable work experience and workforce preparation training through the Fort Sill Youth Center. The Hired! Apprenticeship Program gives participants an opportunity to explore

secondary education options and work with an assigned mentor in one of many career interest areas. Teens gain valuable experiences and training and are better equipped with the skills needed for a highly-compet-itive job market. Apprenticeship terms are 12 weeks in length. Upon successful completion of the term, participants are eligible for a cash award. The Hired Apprenticeship Application deadline for the summer term is May 2 and the term runs from May 21 – Aug. 12. Fort Sill Golf Course is open to the publicThe Fort Sill Golf Course is open to the public Tuesday through Friday for open play. RecPlex offers variety of movies and gamesThe RecPlex has a wide variety of movies available to show for the Friday Night Movie since the cen-ter now has an account with NetFlix and Gamefly. Gamefly will also provide games for the Xboxes with Kinect, Playstation 3, and Wii’s.

Meeting rooms available at Nye LibraryMeeting rooms for larger groups are now available at Nye Library. The library has three meeting rooms that can hold up to 26 individuals each and can easily be converted to a larger space that holds up to 78 individuals. Assistance is also available for your projection and audio visual needs. Call 442-2048 to get the request form and reserve a room.

Nye Library offers Story Time Wednesdays at 11 a.m., Thursdays at 2 p.m.Preschoolers and their parents are invited to enjoy stories and crafts every Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. and Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. For more information, call (580) 442-2048.

NEOS gaming system available for families at Co-Op ParkThe NEOS Wall and NEOS 360 electronic outdoor games are located at Co-Op Park, off Fort Sill Bou-levard on Upton Road. NEOS is the world’s first electronic play systems for the playground. It combines the speed and reflex action of video games with the explosive movement of aerobic exercise to create the

Cabins open for reservation at LETRALake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area has lakeside rustic, wood cabins available for reservation in three different sizes. The small cabins accommodate up to four people; the medium cabins accommodate up to six people; and large cabins accommodate seven people. The prices for the cabins are $55 for the small cabins; $65 for the medium cabins; and $75 for the large cabins. The cabins are available for reservation to all, but there is an additional $10 cost for civilians. The cabins come with all the amenities including furnishings; heat and air; a TV and DVD player; fully-stocked kitchens with dishes and silverware; and linens and towels.
