Premier’s Adventure Challenge

A letter of explanation is with the children today. This looks like a great opportunity for all. I encourage your involvement

Kindy Dance Group

It seems I have greatly underestimated the popularity of this. My office staff tell me they turned away sev-eral folk this morning after the first 15 were taken.

I have now asked Miss Wallace to take a second group and she has agreed. Thus vacancies exit. So tomorrow more children can register. Please do this through the office.

EFTPOS

We now have this facility in our office. All future re-quests for payment will have an option to pay by debit and credit cards. It would be greatly appreci-ated if paying by debit card that this is completed by 2.50p.m.

University of NSW Competitions

Yesterday 20 children from Yrs 3—6 sat the Uni Eng-lish competition. On the 19th others will sit the Mathematics. I am starting to get results back for those already completed being Computers, Spelling, Writing and Science. We are getting great results. Children with Credits, Distinctions or High Distinc-tions will receive their certificates on presentation day which is planned for 14th December.

School Musical

Teachers will soon be starting to prepare their class act for the end of year musical. You might like to mark 9th December on your calendar for this one.

For Your Information

Surviving cyber bullies – What parents need to know. With all the media surrounding cyber bullying, you might be wondering how to protect your child. Many kids rely on technology for their social life and won’t risk telling you about cyber bullying if they think you’ll restrict their access to the com-puter or phone. Make it clear you won’t. Also reinforce the Stop, Block, Tell message:

• Stop: Tell your child NEVER respond to the

bully. Instead, they should take some time out from the conversation to calm down and talk to you

• Block: Block the bully and limit communica-

tion to close friends. Keep the evidence but con-tact the site administrator and ask for the abusive comments to be removed ‑ this will stop your child re-reading and re-living the abuse.

• Tell: One of the most effective things you can do is report bullying to the site administrator. Also tell the school principal. Keep computers and mobiles in an open area of the house and not in kids’ bedrooms. Late night messages – good or bad – don’t allow kids to get enough sleep to function well at school or so-cially.
