CHAPTERS OF FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
For this chapter, I will go to a butcher and ask to take images of some meat that has been taken from farm animals such as lamb, cow and chickens. I will go to the farm first and take some images of the animals before going to the
butchers to take some more images of the meat when it’s been cut up. If I was to do this, I will have to take quite a few images, not just one because I want to get these images at all different angles and make sure I get a good one. I will ask politely if I can take some images buy handing out a model
release form for them to sign. If they sign it, I will be able to start taking the images and they would have agreed and signed the form.
MEATS
For this chapter, I’m going to either have to go to a fish market or a local supermarket as they sale fish there. They also sale different types of fish as
well as different types of sea food, which would be good because then I have a variety of sea food to take images of or I could just concentrate on one of the sea foods. I will be using my Canon bridge camera to take these images.
SEAFOOD
For this chapter, I will go into a restaurant or at home and take some images of certain deserts for example ice cream, cupcakes, chocolate cakes, cookies, muffins and loads more. I will take my canon bridge camera and take some images at angles like bird’s eye view, high angle, low angle and eye level. The
ISO will be 1/125 of a second and will have the F number at 5.6.
DESERTS
Taking images of bread attracts people to go to the bakery and buy bread. The way it has been placed either in a studio or in an actual bakery with the lighting makes you want to go and buy it because of the way the photo has
been taken. So for this chapter, if I was to take images of the bread, I will go into a local
baker and ask if it is possible to take images of some of the things they sale in there. I will hand over a model release form and explain what it means and try to get them to sign it. Once I have explained to them what it’s for and if they say it’s okay and they have agreed to sign, I can then start taking my images. I
want to get a few as I want to get close ups and wide angle shots. The equipment that I will be using is my bridge camera. Depending on their
lighting, I might have to change my ISO and my F number otherwise the image is not going to come out the way it should be.
BREAD
For this I will go to a farm and to the market where they sale dairy products. I will take an image of some animals that may produce dairy, for example a cow.
I will also take images of dairy products such as cheese, milk, yogurt and butter and more. I will take these images in a shop and at the market. I will use my Canon bridge camera and put the ISO at 1/125 and the F number
really high depending on the light that is being used.
DAIRY
For this chapter I will be taking images of all sorts of sweets and chocolates. I will be going to local shops that are near where I live, for example American Fizz, which sale all sorts of American sweets so I would have the variety to
take images of all these different sweets. I will also be able to take images of sweets and chocolate in my home as I have a lot some I will still have the
variety to take images off. I want to also take images of cupcakes that might have either melted chocolate on for icing and cupcakes that might have sweets
on top for decoration.
SWEETS
For this there are many places to go and take images such as a super market, strawberry filed, and allotment (where people grow their own vegetables) and
a vegetable patch. I will be using my camera to take these images. It’s also useful and would help me because I have a lot of fruit and veg at home, so by taking some images at home would also help. I will take the images at different
angles and take images of the fruit and vegetable together. I will also take images of the fruit and vegetables cut open so I will be able to take images of
the texture of the inside of the fruit.
FRUIT AND VEG
For this I will go to a supermarket and go to the drink section where they sale alcohol. They have a lot of variety so be easier to take some images. I also
have a lot of alcohol at home too, so that would come in handy. I am willing to take the images at different angle and take images of someone pouring the
alcohol into a glass. I will be using my Canon bridge camera for this and depending on the light I will have the ISO settings at 1/125 a second and the
F number at 5.6 or 7.1 depending on the light.
DRINK
The photographers that will be taken will be used for personal coursework in relation to her college academic work and has been set by Bournemouth and Poole College. These images will help contribute in my college coursework
and will go towards my professional portfolio. They will not be used for any commercial gain or in any commercial advertisements. They may be used for
internal college marketing. I confirm that I am 18year or older

milk. I have also taken images of meats, seafood and treats like chocolate, sweets and cakes. I had managed to get a lot of images of fruit and veg and
treats.
EXPLANATION
BEST IMAGES/ EDITS
I love this image as it took a bit of time to do due to the weather. It didn’t take that much time to lay the biscuit out on the table in the right position; however I had to take the images really quickly as it then started to rain. I think I got some good images while doing images of biscuits.
BEST IMAGE/ EDITS
I also liked this image; however I had to do it inside as it was raining at this particular time when I was taking the images. I feel like I got some good images of the love hearts and it didn’t take that much time to do. Although it was inside, I wanted to make it look good and professional as possible. I wasn’t too sure if it was going to come out good but this image came out better then I thought.
BEST IMAGES / EDITS
This image was taken outside at a fruit and vegetable stall. I asked the owner if it was okay to take the images of his fruit and vegetables and he said it was fine. I went around taking images of all the fruit and vegetable and trying to get as many as possible. To be honest out of all the images I have taken of the fruit and vegetable this one tops the lot. I love how the peppers are all together. The image is so clear and so shiny which is why I had picked it as it stands out and is very eye catching.
The original purpose of this project was to go out and take images of food photography outside as well as inside. We had to take images of meat, fruit and veg, sweets and cakes etc.
To be honest with you, I feel like it went really well, I might not of got images of actual meat but I got the animal that produces the meat, such as pigs, they produce bacon, sausages, so instead of taking images of that, I went to a farm to take images of meat. The same situation goes for cows is well as I didn’t really get any dairy such as milk and yogurt, so I also took a image of the cow
instead. The things that went well was that I got a lot of images of the food photography and got a
varitey in case there was some that I didn’t like. To be honest there was a lot of images I didn’t like as they came out to blurry or they were not in focus. However, I did get some good images.
If I was to do this whole project again, I would like to have more time. I would also like to explore more places and take images of food else where, maybe in the country side instead. I would also make the most of it and make sure that my camera is on the right settings before
going a head and taking the images. Next time I will definitely use test shot as I didn’t do that this time.
Overall, I loved doing this, I found it fun and it’s a different project to do. I am very happy with the results I got when I then edited the images on Photoshop.
