Shortwave (SW) Broadcast Antennas
Shortwave broadcasting is a highly cost-effective way of providing large area domestic service with transmitting powers from 1.5 kW of up to 500 kW. The broadcast footprint reaches out several hundred kilometres from the transmitter, and is intended for widespread use. Unlike satellite broadcasting, mobile reception is easily achieved. Receivers are widely available all over the world and are commonly used by a large number of listeners who are unable to receive information via satellite or internet. Ampegon offers a full range of shortwave equipment up to 500 kW, including:
• Directional and omni-directional antenna systems • Supporting masts and towers • RF-feed-lines • Accessories like RF-switches, high performance insulators, control systems,
air obstruction lights, safety devices etc.
Ideally the entire shortwave transmission system is precisely optimized to the broadcaster’s needs. Our engineers consider all factors which affect the performance of the system, its interaction with other nearby systems, with the environment and, lastly but significantly, the economic situation. The antenna system is the key component in this optimization process. The customer can choose from a wide variety of the Ampegon antenna system designs to perfectly match their requirements. New Design for Single Band Folded Dipole 50 kW Antenna System
A new antenna design concept and an optimized antenna structure is used for the introduction of this antenna type. The folded dipole antenna is available in the RF power range up to 50 kW and developed for economic and efficient domestic shortwave transmission. The antenna system is designed with proven and reliable Ampegon components and optimized to low power specifications, which results in significant simplification without any loss of performance.
The antenna system has outstanding key performance indicators.
• VSWR ≤ 1.5 in the operational frequency band (Z0 = 300 ) • Gain 8 dBi
