To have friends, it helps to focus on others more than on yourself. Call the person by

name often. Give sincere

compliments. Accept the person

the way they are. Apologize when

you are wrong. Respect their

feelings.

If you feel shy or nervous about meeting new friends, it might be because you think…

“I don’t know what will happen.”“I might say or do the wrong things.”

You might want to try an easy friendship starter like one of these:

“Hello.” “Hi, my name

play?” “What’s your name?” “What’s up?” Write a note. Share something.
