Concept

We chose to propose a new art shop because Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus art students are lack of

art materials and the art materials sold in the bookshops are limited in quantity. The reason why we chose

this site to propose the new art shop is because it is a strategic location connecting both the car park and

Syopz mall. It is also one of the most happening places. Besides, it is an empty space and to make the space

more useful, we chose to propose a new art shop. This site is 15 x 13m. This new art shop will

have an industrial concept where most of the materials used to build this shop will be raw materials such as

bricks, and woods to have the industrial feel.

Our site

Analysis

This 15 x 13m site is an empty space in Syopz Mall connecting the car park and Syopz mall. This empty

space is not fully used and it is a waste to leave this empty space empty without using it to the fullest. Many

students and staff pass by this place everyday making it one of the most happening places with many people

passing by since it is located near the car park.

This is the floor plan of the art shop. This shop consists of 2 doors, 10 windows, several racks and

shelves, counters and chairs.

Red colour indicates the shelves in the shop.

Art books will be placed on several shelves in the shop.

All different types of woods, boards and papers will be placed on several shelves as well.

Tools and equipment will be placed on few shelves along with all the painting tools such as brushes

and paints.

Blue colour indicates the chairs and cashier counter in the shop.

The cashier machine will be place on counter as shown below.

There are chairs for the owners or workers to sit.

The customers will make their payment at this zone.

Green colour indicates the racks in the shop.

Some art materials will be placed on the rack in the shop.

You can find different types of art materials in this shop.

This art shop provides binding, printing and scanning services for those students to print and scan

their work.

The printing machine, binding machine and scanning machine will be placed beside the doors as

shown below.

Ideas

These are some ideas of the art shop that we would like to propose. We would like the shop to be more industrial looking. Therefore, we decided to go with raw materials to match with the industrial concept.
