The interior design of the “Knowledge Café”

Renewable energy of the “Knowledge Café”- Solar energy

The energy supply of the “Knowledge Café” is 100% from the solar energy system. Solar

energy system allow to capture free sunlight and convert it into usable power. Having a

system that creates solar energy means use less electricity from the utility company, and

that can contribute to lower heating and cooling costs.

Furniture of the “Knowledge Café”

The “MODERN” chair and table design

For looks modern the material of the chair and table is stainless steel. Stainless steel does

not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does. However, it is not

fully stain-proof in low-oxygen, high-salinity, or poor air-circulation environments. There

are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy

must endure. Stainless steel is used where both the properties of steel and corrosion

resistance are required.

The wall of the “Knowledge Café”

The wall of the “Knowledge Café” is made by cement. Cement is divided into two types

which are hydraulic cement and non - hydraulic cement. Hydraulic cement is chosen

because refers to any cement that uses water to begin a chemical reaction that hardens the

mixture and, when fully formed, creates a water resistant product. It is a very versatile

construction material. Most all cements used today are hydraulic cements. The

environmental benefits of concrete, among others, are strength and durability, versatility,

low maintenance, affordability, fire-resistance, relatively low emissions of carbon dioxide,

energy efficiency in production, excellent thermal mass, locally produced and used and

albedo effect.

Types of the trees used for the “Knowledge Café”

Rain Tree (Samanea Saman)

Large, fast-growing, deciduous tree of up to 25 m tall, it has a very wide umbrella-

shaped crown so that it is big enough to block sunlight. People can sit under the trees

to have a rest and read books. Sometimes, people can also have a picnic at there. It is

easy to take care.

Bamboo

Bamboos are some of the fastest-growing plants in the world, due to a unique rhizome-

dependent system. Certain species of bamboo can grow 35 inches within a 24 hour period,

at a rate of 0.00003 km/h (0.00002 mph).Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural

significance in South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia, being used for building materials,

as a food source, and as a versatile raw product. Bamboo has a higher compressive strength

than wood, brick or concrete and a tensile strength that rivals steel.
