Margate’s main attraction is the beach and now the shopping strip’s $6 million revamp 18 months ago has given the Redcliffe suburb the ‘lift’ it needed. Margate is 26 kilometres north-east of Brisbane and boasts a sandy beach, eateries along the esplanade, a timber boardwalk and views to Moreton Island.

There is a mix of old-style Queenslanders, new homes, an increasing number of prestige homes and big blocks at Margate, making it an ideal place for those wanting Moreton Bay access without Hedges Avenue prices.The quaint swimming pavilion at Scotts Point is an historical reference to a bygone era and the stand of Norfolk Pine trees lining the esplanade were planted by the first settlers.

PriceFinder reports houses sold for the median price of $315,000 last quarter, registering a decline from the same period last year of 14%. Units sold for the median price of $312,000 in quarter 3 which was as decline of 27% since the same period in 2007. However due to the low total amount of sales used, we do not consider this to be statistically reliable.
