Why Journeys? Journeys build a deep

understanding of key domains and topics within a single lesson, across a grade, and across the program.

Each lesson features a domain and topic that tie the week’s text selections together.

And…. Lesson-specific topics approach each

domain in a grade-appropriate way.

Writing is done on this day Day 2- Anchor Text-The 1st read with big book. Shared

Writing is done on this day. Day 3- Anchor Test- The 2nd read is done where you Think

Through then Text and dig deeper: How to Analyze Text, Text-Based Comprehension, Your Turn (collaboration), and Guided Writing is done on this day.

Day 4- Paired Text- Using the Big Book students compare Text-to Text. Guided Writing is done on this day.

Day 5- Independent Writing and Extending the Topic Conventions in Grammar every day.
