CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The Florida Department of Transportation is currently making
improvements on Ewell Road in Polk County. The project limits include
select locations between East Irby Lane and Old Highway 37.

PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
East Irby Lane to Poley Creek: Resurface the roadway.
Poley Creek Bridge: Demolish the old bridge and build a new bridge.
Lunn Road Intersection (south of Ewell Road): Add a traffic signal at the intersection with left
and right turn lanes on Lunn Road that come to a complete stop at the signal. Also, add a
westbound left turn lane on Ewell Road for traffic heading south on Lunn Road.
Lunn Road Intersection (north of Ewell Road): Add a traffic signal at the intersection with left
and right turn lanes on Lunn Road that come to a complete stop at the signal. Also, add an
eastbound left turn lane on Ewell Road for traffic heading north on Lunn Road.
Old Highway 37 Intersection: Resurface the intersection and upgrade the signal equipment.
PROJECT SCHEDULE UPDATE
Ewell Road remains closed over Poley Creek as crews work diligently to complete the new bridge
and open it as soon as safely possible. See detours on back of flyer.
Current projections call for opening the bridge by late October 2018, weather permitting.
Please allow extra time in your schedule to reach your destination. Once the new bridge is open,
crews will begin work at the Lunn Road intersections and Old Highway 37.
