Introduction The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services-Division of Plant Industry (FDACS-DPI) Cooperative Agriculture Pest Survey (CAPS) program staff was engaged in many program activities including data entry, survey, public outreach, training and program development. As of June 30, 2012, there were a total of 170 traps in 35 counties (Alachua, Baker, Bay, Citrus, Collier, De Soto, Duval, Franklin, Gulf, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Jackson, Lake, Levy, Liberty, Marion, Martin, Nassau, Okaloosa, Orange, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, St. Lucie, St. Johns, Suwannee, Volusia, Wakulla, and Walton). Negative survey data entry in progress, ID ongoing.

*2 DF: No records were uploaded during this period, however survey trapping was ongoing and 541 moths were collected from the field; also 576 moths were screened by USDA-PPQ Entomologist Identifier Julieta Brambila, of which 574 were positive for the target species. As of December 31, 2011, there were a total of 15 traps still active in 1 county (Orange County). Positive and negative survey data entry is still in progress, and ID is ongoing. *3 LBAM: 933 records represent 1024 negative moths (32 specimens submitted for analysis) from 112 traps in 28 counties (Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Collier, Columbia, De Soto, Duval, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Jackson, Lee, Leon, Manatee, Marion, Miami-Dade, Orange, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, St. Lucie, Volusia). All results were negative for the target species. *4 SWPM/Bark Beetle: 562 records represent 9,803 insects screened by CAPS Lab Technician Kate Okins. All results were negative for target species (Hylurgops, Hylurgus, Monochamus, Platypus, Scolytus, Trypodendron, Tomicus piniperda, Tomicus destruens) from the approximately 48 traps in 14 counties (Bay, Broward, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Orange, Palm Beach, Seminole, St. Lucie, Sumter) during July-December 2011, resulting in 16 new records: 1-NSR, and 15-NCR (only 6-NCR were considered pests; 1-NCR was entered in NAPIS and the other 5-NCR were recorded at the end of 2011 and so will be counted in the first quarter of 2012). Negative survey data entry is still in progress, and ID is ongoing.

*5 LW (part of SWPM/RBAB Survey): No records were uploaded this quarter, however both visual surveys and trapping surveys were ongoing in 8 counties during this period (see redbay ambrosia beetle (SWPM/RBAB) survey numbers below for data from counties outside of Miami-Dade). Three New County Records for laurel wilt were reported during this period: Sumter County on 8-18-2011, Hamilton County on 11-22-2011, and Gilchrist County on 12-30-2011. For Miami-Dade County only, the intensive trapping effort begun in March 2010 continued these quarters 3&4 with bi-weekly checks of 62 traps through December 31, 2011. As of December 31, 2011, 136-X. glabratus beetles have been found in Miami-Dade County at 9 different locations, and at least 64-trees (63-swamp bay trees and 1-redbay tree) have been confirmed positive for laurel wilt disease. *6 SWPM/Sirex: 82 records represent 1,932 insects screened. All results were negative for Sirex noctilio from 18 traps in 11 counties (Bay, Brevard, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Orange, Palm Beach, Seminole) during July-December 2011. *7 RCW: 226 records represent 257 negative moth specimens from 20 traps in 6 counties (reduced to 19 traps in 5 counties -De Soto, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Orange, Pinellas) during July through December 2011. All screenings and ID's to date are negative for the target species. *8 SWPM/RBAB: 1129 records represent 13,000 negative and 107 positive RBAB specimens uploaded during the period July - December 2011, however survey trapping was ongoing in 10 traps in 4 counties other than Miami-Dade (Broward, Collier, Hendry, Palm Beach), but was reduced to 2 traps in 1 county (Palm Beach) by December 31, 2011. All screenings and ID's to date total 13,107 specimens. ID of survey samples is ongoing and data entry is in progress. *9 PCN: No records were uploaded to NAPIS during the third and fourth quarter; however surveys were done on May 25-26, 2011 totaling 27 samples in Brevard County. Lab ID’s and results are in progress. *10 SGS: No records were uploaded during this period, however survey trapping was ongoing and 865 insects were collected (461 from 46 bucket traps and 404 from sweep/beat methods). Surveying was conducted from March to May of 2011, and specimens were collected from 9 counties (Calhoun, Escambia, Gadsden, Jackson, Okaloosa, Pasco, Santa Rosa and Sumter), covering 10200 combined acres of wheat, rye, and oats. Various methods were utilized: visual surveys for C. virgata and UG99, baited bucket traps for H. armigera and S. litura, and sweep/beat methods for N. huttoni. All screening has been completed by USDA-PPQ Entomologist Identifier Julieta Brambila and all specimens were found negative for all target species. Complete ID and full report is in progress. Negative survey data entry is in progress. *11 RPW: 84 records represent 4 negative insect specimens from 7 traps in 3 counties (Hillsborough, Osceola, Palm Beach) during July through December 2011. All screenings and ID's to date are negative for the target species. *12 TA: 353 records represent 257 negative moth specimens from 76 traps in 15 counties (Alachua, Bay, Collier, De Soto, Duval, Gadsden, Hendry, Hillsborough, Jackson, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Pinellas) during July through December 2011.
