  • 2 Bording Bellows AS

Bording Bellows produce expansion joints for many varied applications. Here can be seen assembly of a complete unit for flue gas, Bording Bellows Type R250-IV.

  • expansion bellows from bording bellowsExpansion bellows from Bording Bellows can be used in duct systems for boilers, incinerators, powerstations, refineries and many other industries where combustion products and other gaseous media must be contained and moved.

Expansion joints from Bording Bellows are designed to resist even the harshest conditions including high or low temperatures.

It is therefore important for Bording Bellows to continually develop and update product selection in order to be able to offer the optimal solution to the customer.

Bording Bellows have, over the years, assembled a significant amount of knowledge regarding applica-tions and the individual problems that have had to be solved. All aspects of design, production and assem-bly are in-house functions, which means that small and large quantities can be offered at reasonable prices whilst maintaining a flexible delivery program.

Because of the efforts of industry to reduce CO2emissions, many of the gaseous processes, where

Bording Bellows products are installed, have a vastly varying temperature range.

Based on these requirements Bording Bellows have also developed Type LTF-bellows. This range isspecially designed for low temperature flue gas and vapours from aggressive chemical products. This range is explained later in the brochure.

seleCTionBefore choosing the expansion bellows it is necessary to consider several factors eg. location, temperature, pressure and required movement.

Rectangular and circular are the normal duct shapes but special configurations can be made to order. Single layer fabric would typically be used for low temperature ventilation systems. For flue gasses and applications where the temperature exceeds 250C a multi-layer bellows would be needed includingspecial weave and acid resistant PTFE layers.

The selection of the correct expansion bellows isdependent on many factors as mentioned, includ-ing the environment of the exact installation in the system. It is therefore of paramount importance that all rele vant data is available.

Bording Bellows have no standard dimen-sions. All items are produced to order and in cooperation with the customer.

  • maTerialsSystems for condensing flue gas and for flue gasdesulphurisation put special demands on the choice of materials used for expansion bellows. Fabricsuppliers are therefore chosen for their proven excel-lence within this specialised field.

Bording Bellows flexible connections for temperatures below 200C consist of a layer of special weave for air or flue gas. Above this temperature multi-layer construction will include insulation for flue gas and other systems.

Materials available include, insulation up to 1300C, special weave for up to 1000C and gastight fabrics that can withstand the most common chemicals.

All materials used are chosen with due consideration to the working environment. Dangerous materials eg. asbestos, would of course never be used.

The choice of materials is based on the actual op-erating conditions including, temperature, flowing medium, pressure, expected movement and ambient conditions.

insTallaTionFlexible Connections or expansion bellows can be installed in pipe or duct systems using a variety of attachments depending on the temperature and pres-sure conditions. Here temperature range is indicated.

Configuration I: Attachment to spigots using steel straps. Recom-mended maximum temperature 450C.

Configuration II: Attachment with angle flanges. Recommend-ed maximum temperature 450C.

Configuration IV: Attachment with parallel flanges. Suitable for the whole temperature range.

In many cases it is advantageous to use expansion joints supplied complete with steelwork for easy installation directly into the system.

  • CompleTe dampersBording Bellows offers a unique series of complete dampers for installation in air and flue gas systems. The dampers can be designed for isolating, regulating or diverting the flowing media. In addition to being used for gaseous media some dampers can be applied to the transportation of solids, eg, ash, granulate, woodchip etc.

ConsTruCTion and funCTionThe standard program contains five damper types.

produCTionAll dampers are produced as tailor-madeitems both with regards to type, dimensions, tightness require-ments and steel quality etc. Dampers can besupplied with actuators attached, control box etc. all in accordance with customer requirements andspecifications. All dampers can, in addition, besupplied complete with duct flanges, bolts andgaskets.

Type ndVQuarter-turnbutterfly valve with circular or rectan-gular blade. For isolating orregulating.

Type ndJ Multi-blade damper, circular or rectangular. For isolating and regulating. Better for regulating than type NDV.

Type ndsSlide valve, circu-lar or rectangular. Used mainly forapplications involv-ing solids (particu-late).

Type ndV-dDouble butterfly valve with purge chamber for isolat-ing. With introduc-tion of purge air at higher pressure a complete 100% isola-tion of the flowing media is achieved.

Type ndfDiverting valve, circular or rectan-gular, with one inlet and two outlets. Used for diverting flow between the two outlets or isolating either of the outlets.
