Tristan Chamberlin November 10, 2014 Product review 1 Early this year Reebok released one of the first shoes ever designed for obstacle course racing. Up until their release there really hadn't been any shoes on the market that were specifically design with mud runs and obstacle course races in mind. Instead racers and competitive athletes where turning to the only things on the market that made sense “Trail Shoes”. Now don't get me wrong there are some amazing trail shoes on the market that blow these out of the water. But those shoes aren't designed for abuse, mud, and gallons of water that these are. Product review 2

Now Im not your everyday reviewer I like to take things through the paces before I even think about offering my opinion on something. Nothing irritates me more then a half assed review.

Thats why I decided to really put these through hell before I wrote about them.

I’ve completed two 10+ mile races in them, trained in them for the last six months, and tested them on the trails and streets of Columbus.

First thing you will notice right out of the box is that these shoes are super light when compared to other trail shoes. If anything they might remind you of cross

country spikes or track spikes. And just like with track spikes the shoes run very narrow and about a half size small. Id say only order these is you can wear a pair of Chuck Taylors comfortably. Aside from them running a tad small you will also notice that the upper feels almost

plastic. Thats because the upper is made out of a special synthetic mesh that is designed to hold virtually no water and allows the shoe to Drain quickly when running through water hazards.

“Designed to hold virtually no water”

After running through 12miles of ankle deep mud.

Product review 3

The tread of this shoe differs from front to back and features different hardness’s of rubber for varied grip. The front tread has 1/4 inch studs and back has a slightly larger 5/16 stud. These shoes also include two other well thought out features on the sole. The first of which you will notice is the instep. Reebok has added and designed a special rope guard for added grip when faced with a soaking wet rope to climb. The second feature is a little harder to spot and it is built into the sole and foot bed of the shoe.

Reebok designed a special drainage system that allows water to drain out of the sole and forces it out vents that are built into the side of the sole. Every time you take a step you force drain you shoe.

Pros • Fast Draining

• Low Water Absorption

• Light weight • Great Grip

• Sheds dirt and mud with every step

• Rock guard underfoot

Cons • Upper is stiff and lets in dirt/rocks

• Bad shoe laces

• Some people find them too narrow, I have average width feet and they are fine

Overall Reebok is moving in the right direction with these shoes and its nice to finally have a shoe out that is designed for OCR races. If you are looking for a light weight shoe for you next race I strongly recommend giving these a try.
