Responsible dog owners do not simply provide dog beds or dog toys for their beloved pets. They would care for their dogs down to the very detail of their dogs’ mating partners. This is completely understandable, for how could you freely allow your dog to mate with someone else’s unhealthy dog? To a certain degree, then, it is quite obvious how you would want to define the characteristics of a perfect dog mate, before you would ever want your dog to go through such a process of mating. Some of these characteristics are thus written below. 1. With a matured age. The perfect dog mate would have to be in the perfect age. Of course, both the stud and the bitch ought to be mature enough, whether yours is the stud and the bitch is owned by a close friend, or vice versa. The specific ages differ among dog breeds, but the maturity for mating generally depends on the size of the dogs. Smaller or medium-sized dogs mature more readily, and at about 12 to 15 to 18 months, they would be in ages perfect for mating. Larger-sized breeds, on the other hand, would have to reach the minimum of 18 to 24 months of age before they can safely mate. 2. Of the desired breed. Breed compatibility is important in dog mating. This science of matching is so much more sophisticated than the process of picking for the best among cheap pet supplies. Size is an important factor, as well as the close connections between the two breeds. 3. In a healthy state. Health is a factor which can never be neglected when it comes to having your dogs mate. Both the stud and the bitch must be in good health at the time of mating to ensure no problem with the offspring to be produced. 4. With matching weight. Although the weight can be incorporated into the second factor mentioned above, there still are instances when while the dogs are generally of the same size, one is unusually underweight. This condition might also be reflective of the third factor mentioned. Proper nourishment for the dogs should have thus been considered.

5. Of neat grooming. The match would not be as perfect as thought of without this final element. Both the male and the female should have been bathed and even trimmed before mated. This physical preparation would help minimize problems during the intercourse. Some pet supplies have been especially made for this particular grooming process.
