1998: The Loss of Boots Park• The City lost its lease to 9-acre Boots Park, leaving a total of only

105 acres in inventory– a 25 acre deficit at that time

1999: The Creation of PARCS, Inc.• Created to model successful community capital campaigns

for the acquisition of park land to then be deeded to the City

• A variety of funding vehicles available that government agencies traditionally do not have in the acquisition of land

• Since 1999, PARCS, Inc. has been involved in the acquisition of five new parks totaling 135 acres – more than doubling the size of the park system
