• Students will understand how to use the color wheel.
• Students will know each color harmony.
• Students will illustrate color harmonies.
• Students will examine different color harmonies for correctness.
• Students will be able to create harmonious color schemes in a given area.
Day 1:Day 1:
• Present the color wheel to students so they are aware of the terminology and the logistics behind it in order to make better understanding of color harmonies. Students will also color a color wheel.
Day 2:Day 2:
• A Power Point presentation on Color Harmonies.
• The Art Collection and overhead transparencies are used to display additional examples of various color schemes.

Day 3-4:Day 3-4:
• Students are divided into groups of three and instructed to illustrate the six different color harmonies using room templates provided by me. Students may also have the choice to design their own backdrop (room) to apply color to illustrate harmonies.
When illustrations are finished, the group is to analyze whether or not their depictions are correct. This is a group assignment and their success depends on one another.

1. In groups of three (I will assign) choose who is going to illustrate which color harmonies.
2. Each person should complete two illustrations. *All color harmonies need to be represented.
3. Do not write which color harmony your illustration is representing.
4. When all illustrations are completed, another group will be assessing your assignment. (using an Assessment Rubric)

Day 5:Day 5:
• Once all illustrations were finished and analyzed for accuracy, each group passed their six pictures to the right making sure their names are on their work without any written indication of what color scheme is besides for the illustration.
• Using a rubric, students analyzed each illustration and determined the groups’ accuracy.
• Once each group analyzed and completed the grading rubrics of the first group’s illustrations, we continued this rotation until every group assessed all illustrations in the classroom.

This unit has made me realize how interesting and fun it can be to incorporate art into my curriculum. I am very optimistic my students will enjoy this unit as we approach this coming school year. I am eager to incorporate the arts into other areas and units I teach, as it is a valuable element for learning.
