2. Philosophy of Education High Expectations! Produce life- long respectful citizens, able to function in an ever-changing society. Integrate curriculum to encompass the teachings of teaching ofcharacter education. Provide a safe learning environment that ensures student goalachievement. Teach the values: respect, trust and good role- modeling, ensuring that this occurs for my students. Through all this commitment to the learning environment I willensure that always have open communication with the parentsof the students I teach, my colleagues, as well as other involvedin the education of my students. 3. Reading StrategiesWhen students have a purpose for reading aselection, they find that purpose not onlydirects their reading towards a goals, buthelps to focus their attention. Purposes maycome from teacher directed questions, orhands- on activities, questions from classdiscussions or brainstorming, or from theindividual student. With this project studentsgot opportunities to workcooperatively applyingtheir knowledge, interact, and think critically tosolve the activities givenby the teacher . 7. Math Project Measuring:Length , to the nearest and inch, how big is a foot Estimating distancesDifferent activities were developed in this unit.Students had the opportunity to explore and finddifferent ways to solve a problem. The main purpose of the team activities in thelesson was to encourage students to think about aquestion, issue or problem and then refine theirunderstanding through discussion with a partner orgroup. In this unit students could reflect on a subjectcontent and deepen their understanding of thetopic through clarification and rehearsal with apartner or group. They also got the opportunity todevelop skills for small group discussion, such aslistening actively, disagreeing respectfully, andideas for clarity. 8. Final Reflection: Personal Growth Interaction with Cohort Members hastaught me to value others experiences asa means to become even more open-minded. Online Discussion Responses allowed meto clarify some of my concepts and ideasabout teaching that I hadnt necessarilyexpressed before. NTEC program has allowed my teachingto be more effective. 9. Future Goal 1Continue my Education: Learning truly is a lifelong process. As humanbeings, we are always learning and growing. As our professional interests and thedemands of the education change because ofthe globalization , it is important to expand ourskills and knowledge to be effective teachers. As educators our responsibility in ourstudents lives is to make sure that they aregetting the best education possible so thatthey can succeed. 10. Future Goal 2 Be a Positive Role Model For my Students and my Family: For educators it must include modeling the virtues that are vital to developing and staying with a healthy, active, productive lifestyle. Schools and teachers have a tougher job than ever helping students develop desirable human virtues because divorce and two working parents result in little time for the important details of raising children. Virtues such as honesty, integrity, commitment, diligence, dignity, enthusiasm, excellence, moderation, perseverance, reliability, respect, responsibility, self-control, sincerity, and truthfulness are not always being taught at home. The School is an ideal place to teach these virtues, and many of them are crucial pieces that help students to become citizens with integrity and succeed in life. 11. Final Thoughts So to end this presentation I have to say thatthe end of this program is just the beginningto my journey as an effective teacher whetherfor children or adults. Words of advice for those just beginning: Theroad will give us many challenges, but let usnot give up as educators for it is the gratitudeof having our grown students come backyears later that feed our spirits.
