Mission Statement

Blackbird Dance Company (BDCo) was created by Alexandra Blackbird de Ochoa (Founder / Director) as a non-profit (in 2005) as a response to promote accessibility of the arts and the celebration of cultural diversity for children and adults through performance, touring and educational opportunities.

What BDCo PROVIDES… A creative studio space for the community

incorporating interactive live music and dance performances for the public

Low cost classes for adults and children Enhanced enrichment extensions of more

traditional dance forms Enables aspiring teachers who desire experience

and teams them with the mentoring of Ms. Blackbird de Ochoa

Offers performances of world dance at local schools and venues in Los Angeles and Southern California

Specially created age appropriate classes for those who are 2 years of age to 90 years young!

WHAT ARE WE SEEKING

We are seeking corporate sponsors and partners for branding and marketing opportunities to support our diversity incentives and programs:

1. Low cost dance programs for Los Angles Children and Adults.

2. After school programs to children in Unified School Systems.

3. Low Cost dance programs and scholarships for young adults.

4. Public Performances for audiences nation wide and internationally.

5. National tour of multi-platform dance performances presented to schools and neighborhoods nation wide.

OUTREACH

Our program has reached well into the community of Los Angeles stretching from Downtown Los Angeles to the ocean touching Thousand Oaks with the expression of dance. We have inspired ages 2 to 90 years with classes, performances, life changing teaching, summer camps and mentoring internships .

We have influenced artistic advancement for hundreds of teachers through one-on-one mentorship. We have taken leaders under out wing and have developed numerous dance teachers in instruction over the last several years assisting them in their professional and personal growth.

We have taught thousands of students over 10 years of instruction and inspired the love of dance in audiences with FREE PUBLIC performances all over Los Angeles County.

SPONSORSHIP/PARNTER OPPORTUNITIES

There are several sponsorship levels and opportunities to support Blackbird Dance Company. By becoming a partner of the birds, your company will receive strategic placement and value added benefits that will offer a minimum of 12 months of branding and marketing visibility to a range of influential people in Los Angeles County and beyond.

Investment in the Rising Phoenix, Bird of Paradise, or Gold Finch levels offers your organization the opportunity for discounts on classes, studio rentals and Blackbird Dance Company Merchandise!

Rising Phoenix Corporate Logo Placement on the home page of our website with click through ability. Logo and name recognition on all ALL-STARS KIDS TEAM and Adult Dance Company

merchandise for one full year of branding. Rising Phoenix level can also sponsor a specific achieving student in the arts and

performances of dance and circus. This support presents the specific sponsored student with all their team gear, shoes and practice wear necessary for the season. And a full scholarship for ALL dance classes.

An opportunity for two group classes in a season for your organization either on-site or at the Blackbird Dance Company. Limited space available at the studio (25 people max).

Logo and/or name recognition for at least one competition experience as soloist, duet, trio or group.

Logo placement for all cabaret’s and performances for Blackbird Dance Company (a minimum of 12 performances a year)*

Name and logo inclusion in all Press Releases and marketing material for season with name listed on sponsorship list at performances.

Podium and MC announcements “thank you to our sponsors” when appropriate. Logo and name recognition for all marketing material including “The Nest” newsletter and

opportunity to present a story for publication. Industry Exclusivity as only sponsor in your specific industry at this level. First right of refusal for following season sponsorship.

Total Investment = $10,000 *Note that logo placement and announcements at Blackbird Performances in partnership with other venues or outside of the Blackbird Dance Company are subject for approval with partners to ensure there are no other conflicts with industry competitors

Bird of Paradise Corporate name recognition on the home page of our website.

Name recognition on selected ALL-STARS KIDS TEAM and Adult Dance Company merchandise for one full year of branding.

Bird of Paradise level can also sponsor a specific achieving student in the arts and performances of dance and circus. This support presents the specific sponsored student with select shoes and dancewear as well as a full scholarship for all needed dance classes.

An opportunity for one group class in a season for your organization either on-site or at the Blackbird Dance Company. Limited space available at the studio (25 people max).

Name recognition for at least one competition experience as soloist, duet, trio or group.

Name recognition at cabaret’s and performances for Blackbird Dance Company (a minimum of 12 performances a year)*

Named corporate sponsorship of ALL-STARS KIDS TEAM and Adult Dance Company for one season.

Opportunity to sponsor a specific achieving student in the art and performance of dance and circus. This will include a select option of shoes and dance wear and partial scholarship for dance classes.

An opportunity for 2 private lessons.

Name recognition for competition experience as soloist, duet, trio or group.

Name recognition at cabaret’s and performances for Blackbird Dance Company (a minimum of 12 performances a year)*

Name inclusion in all Press Releases and marketing material for season with name listed on sponsorship list at performances.

Podium and MC announcements “thank you to our sponsors” when appropriate.

Name recognition for all marketing material including “The Nest” newsletter and opportunity to present a story for publication.

Your donation of $100 or more will make you an official member of our tribe and you will receive a Blackbird Dance Company T-Shirt for your donation.

Your donation also includes either one ticket to one of our in-studio cabaret performances or a free dance class.

Most of all your donation offers a dancer your support and makes you feel real good about supporting the art of dance!

Alexandra Blackbird de Ochoa brings to dance two decades of touring as a performer, choreographer, and dancing for Off-Broadway musicals such as: West Side Story Broadway Tour with Trinity Repertory and lead in Thin Line, a dance drama at Dance Theatre Workshop in Chelsea area NYC, Guest-Artist teaching residencies at: Studio Encore in Canada and Marquis Studios in NYC, co-founder of nationally touring non-profit dance and theater group, Fusion Dance Company which had a well-known studio in the Capitol Hill District in Seattle, WA.

BDCo’s current 2014-2015 season

The ART Burlesque series, a live music and dance event, brilliantly sexy and provocatively engaging show that fuses Live Music, Dance, Theatricality, Humor, and Sensuality.

24 Blackbirds: the Musical focuses on artistic costuming and set; a family of colorful birds where each takes a life’s journey to find out what makes them fly. Using the Blackbird eclectic mixture of Afro-Modern Dance and fusing other cultural forms of Jazz, African, Latin and Tribal original rhythms, it is a beautiful and personal reflection of cultures and relationships.

Love Songs a Blackbird Jazz and Lyrical Series, a live music and dance event that incorporates contemporary Jazz music and dance performer interaction.

BDCo’s future is working toward a season where artistic management and performers continue to further their creative artistic development of live music and dance that interacts with the audience bringing this experience to the worldwide community.

Meet the companies… The ALL STARS

The All STARS meet on Sundays with the blackbird dance coaching staff to learn choreography, as well as technique in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, circus and acro styles. This gives them a taste of what it would be like to be in a professional company or a workshop setting. With in house training blackbird dance has also been able to give the all stars first person experience in stage performance. From the kids showcase at blackbird dance company to the National dance day at the Madrid theatre in Northridge California the all stars have their moment and time to shine.

Meet the companies… The Adult Birds The Blackbird Dance Company Troupe is comprised of a range of dancers from multicultural, ethnic and diverse dance experience backgrounds, from Ballet to Tap, Middle Eastern to Ballroom, and specialty cirque… Each of our dancers has claimed the essence of a very specific bird. Together they represent all areas of dance and converge to form one dynamic flock and powerful group of dancers!
