Finals The final was held on

July 11th in Soccer City , Johannesburg.

Spain defeated Netherlands 1-0 with an extra time goal by Andrés Iniesta (Spanish player) .

They were the Fifa World Cup 2010 champions and were the eight team to win it.

This made them the first new winner without home advantage since Brazil in 1958, and the first team to win the global showpiece having lost their opening game.

Scoring Sequence116' GOAL - INIESTA!

Spain have surely just won the World Cup! Fabregas plays in Iniesta, who takes a touch and then rifles the ball beyond Stekelenburg. The Dutch are furious about something in the build-up - or possibly even that corner that wasn't given a minute or two earlier.

Play Up To The Goal Andres Iniesta had scored on

the 116th Minute from the end of extra time, scoring with his right-footed shot from 14 yards out to given Spain a 1-0 lead to put the Spaniards on the verge of their first World Cup.

The Dutch, attempting to play Iniesta offside, allowed a ball to be looped over the back line, giving Iniesta time to collect the pass and beat Maarten Stekelenburg toward the Dutch goalie's far post.

Dutch defenders protested heavily that Iniesta was offside, earning Joris Mathijsen the Netherlands' ninth booking of the final.  Replays showed Iniesta was onside when the pass was played. With the 10-man Dutch stretched, the Furia Roja used the extra man as Andres Iniesta got on the end of a crossfield ball at the far post to drill across Stekelenburg into the back of the net.

How To Make A Better Defence! Mark your opponent. Stay so

tight that no one passes to him or her, unless told by your coach to play zone marking. Sticking close is called man-to-man marking.

Stay with your opponent. Don't try to take the ball from the carrier.

Don't do sliding tackles. If you fail to steal the ball, the carrier can pass you easily.

Be fast. If someone tries to pass to your opponent, get to the ball first and look out for passes that you can intercept.

Never watch your opponent's feet. Watch the ball.

Know the speed and abilities of your opposing team. Know how they compare to yours, and take risks accordingly.

Use your team support. If you have a teammate behind you (supporting you), you can look to try to take the ball from your opponent. If not, don't try.

Never try to reach in and stab or swipe for the ball. Your opponent will dribble right past you if you do. Just stay close and wait.

Stay goalside. That means stay in between your player and the goal.

Attacking Team ]Their attack was very well

played. Torres passed to Fabregas who then passed to Iniesta but before it reached Iniesta one of the dutch players stopped it but Iniesta sprinted to get it and shot the ball .

They had good possession for that play before the goal and because of that possession they time to shoot a goal about 14 yards away.

Movement “Off The Ball” Holland didn’t have a really

good defense because Iniesta was able to score a goal but before he tried to shoot one of the players stopped him but the Torres passed it to Iniesta again so then they were able to score the goal. For that goal there was barely any movement but the movement which was there was excellent. As you can see in this picture on the right the Holland Player is trying to take the ball away from the player on the Spanish Team.
