Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition.--Alexander smith

Love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. it al-ways protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perse-veres. --1 Corinthians 13:4-7

True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. it is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart. --Hon-ore de Balzac Love is the seed of all hope. it is the enticement to trust, to risk, to try, to go on.--Gloria Gaither Let the world stop turning,Let the sun stop burning,Let them tell me love’s not worth going through.if it all falls apart,i will know deep in my heart,The only dream that mattered had come true...in this life i was loved by you. ~Bette Midler~

Love is like a friendship caught on fire.in the beginning a flame, very pretty,Often hot and fierce,But still only light and flickering. As love grows older,Our hearts matureAnd our love becomes as coals,Deep-burning and unquenchable. ~ Bruce Lee ~

it is love, not reason, that is stronger than death ~ Thomas Mann ~

MEMORABLE LOvE QUOTES

skip the expensive restaurant this year and treat you significant other to a delicious, romantic dinner prepared by you right in the comfort of you own home. Forget fighting for reservations on one of the busiest nights of the year when the restau-rants are overbooked, overcrowded, understaffed and charging more for a meal that you can make equally as well at home.

if you are a decent cook, this will be a no brainer. if you are new to cooking, don’t worry, there are lots of simple menus ideas that you will be able to tackle. And if you really are not comfortable in the kitchen, there are shortcuts you can take that will make you like you know what you are doing? Go to your computer for many great meal ideas.

Cooking is not that difficult. it’s just fol-lowing a set of instructions. if as a kid you liked to build model cars or model airplanes, you know it’s all about following the directions. same is true with cooking. Yes, there are a few tricks you should know, but i will point these out as we go along.

Besides, it doesn’t matter if everything isn’t perfect. Your wife or girlfriend won’t complain if something is a little overcooked or your timing is off, she’ll appreciate the effort you take to put a multi course meal together. And by adding the right light-ing and music, along with some fine Champagne or wine and a nicely set table, he or she might not even notice the food but i’m sure they will. Don’t forget the chocolate!

Your goal is to start with a little history of valentine’s Day, describe the advantages of eating at home, talk about creating a romantic setting and then getting to the food.

Remember it’s all creating your own romance with each other.

How Would You Like To Prepare An Incredibly romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner For Your Loved one?

The israel Children’s Centers (Tennis Centers) will have their annual Palm Aire Angels Luncheon and

Card Party on Monday, March 7th at 11:30 a.m. in the east Room at Palm Aire Country Club. The luncheon is chaired by Gloria Boris, Harriet Dworetz, Leona Fribush, Johann Levinson and evelyn weitzman. The cost of the luncheon is $25 with an additional mini-mum tax-deductible donation of $50. we hope you will be able to join us and meet a very special group of children and their coach from the israel Tennis Centers who will share with you stories about their lives in israel and how the Tennis Centers are shaping their future. For more information about the event, please contact Cathy Mullin at (954) 480-6333 ext. 222 or [email protected]. The israel Children’s Center is the American organization that fundraises and supports 14 tennis centers in israel. Children with a home away from home. The concept of providing a safe, nurturing environment for the kids to learn life skills through tennis has become an amazing success story. started in 1976, the centers are now the larg-est tennis school in the world and the largest social service organization for children in the state of israel. 19,000 children attend each week, more than 350,000 since 1976. The 14 centers, located mainly in poor neighborhoods, provide disadvantaged children with life skills in a structured, safe and nurturing environment. special programs have been developed promoting coexistence between Jewish and Arab children. Other programs ease assimilation for ethiopian immigrants. Many centers also have programs for at risk, autistic, wheelchair-bound, and other special needs children. no child is ever turned away because of financial hardship. All of this is possible thanks to funding from people in the United states.

February brings us valentine Day and nothing says “i love you” like home security lighting. while alarm systems are a necessity, it is better to keep the criminal away from your home before the alarm is needed. with the high unemployment rate and fewer people being able to find jobs, we need to be even more cautious to protect our homes. Today, i read about regular people, not just criminals, who are desper-ate and are turning to theft in order to survive. if you have ever been robbed, you know the feeling of being violated, and the amount of time it takes to get over it. There are many ways help protect your home from being a target. A barking dog and a sign warning of a dog are good deterrents to someone that is randomly looking for homes to break into. Many people are afraid of dogs and would not take the chance of being bit-ten. There are also devices that mimic a dog barking that could be used. since many home robberies occur during the day, having cam-eras mounted outside your home may influence a would-be robber to move on down the road where they are less likely to be identified. Your neighbors can be another set of eyes to help protect your property. if possible, you should get to know them and work together to help protect your neighborhood. Do not be afraid to call the police to report any unusual activity when you see it. An example of this would be a moving truck in their driveway when you know they are on vacation. Be careful not to allow workers that are supposed to be work-ing outside your home into the house to use your bathroom or inside phone unless you know their background. Absolutely do not allow so-licitors into your house for any reason. There are too many stories of people missing jewelry and other items after these visitors leave. The city does not send people out to check you’re inside plumbing or any inside utility. if this happens, call the Police. To protect your entry doors, deadbolts could be installed to keep the locks from being pried. Be sure to use your locks! sliding windows and doors should have a folding security bar or a something it the track to keep the window or door from opening should some-one breaks the lock. However unless you have hurricane windows and doors, they can just break the window. when that happens, hopefully, your alarm will sound and help will be on the way. when you plan to be away, leave on some lights and/or the television. These can be put on a timer to make your house look oc-cupied. Ask a neighbor or trusted friend to pick up your newspapers, mail and any solicitians that may be hanging from your door. You can also arrange for your house to be observed, in your absence, by the BsO or your local police department. The police will drive by ran-domly looking for anything that may be amiss. we all do what you can to protect our home and property; we just need to be more vigilant during these times.

FLorIDA eXISTING CoNDo SALeS RISE IN NOvEMBER

sales of existing condominiums in Florida rose 11 percent in november, with a total of 5,411 condos sold statewide compared to 4,860 units sold in november 2009. The statewide existing condo medi-an price sales prices was $88,200 in november 2009, it was $104,500 for a 16 percent decrease year to year. However, november’s statewide existing condo me-dian price was, month-to-month, 7 percent HiGHeR than the statewide existing condo median of 482,400 in October 2010. Meanwhile, in the year-to-year comparison for existing home sales, a total of 11,900 single –fam-ily existing homes sold statewide in november com-pared to 13,961 homes sold in november 2009 for a decrease of 15 percent. Florida’s median existing home sales price in november was $132,700 a year earlier; it was $139,300 for a decrease of 5 percent. The median is the midpoint; half the homes sold for more, half for less. As i mentioned, in the February edition, the inventory of new homes for sale fell to 197,000 units in november, marking THe FiRsT TiMe in 42 YeARs that this measure has fallen below the 200,000 level. This amount to an 8.2 month supply at the current sales pace. This is a very impor-tant improvement indicating a gradual recovery into 2011. if we add 2 million jobs as expected in 2011 and mortgage rates rise only moderately, we should see existing home sale Rise to a higher, sustainable volume. Credit remain tight, but if lenders return to more normal, safe underwriting standards for credit-worthy buyers, there would be a BiGGeR BOOsT to the housing market and spillover benefits for the broader economy. if you have any question on this article or anything else feel free to contact me G. There were ballet dancers all over the room: on the table cards and on everyone’s name badge. even the programs were adorned with a photo of the marquee of the Miami City Ballet. That was the setting created by the event chairperson, Kathy Zanoff. it was a fun-filled morning at the east Room of Palm-Aire Country Club on Monday, november 29, 2010. Other committee members included Karen Bajcar, Myra Cohen, Bette Heidenrich, Doris schwartzreich (Reservations), and Teri Platek. Marge Grecco, a member who is a professional photogra-pher, took photos; lucky us! After a bountiful brunch, and lots of prizes--including a free ticket to the January 15th ballet performance, Haydee Morales, Costume Designer of the Miami City Ballet, spoke. she told us many stories of her life-long in-teractions with dancers and choreographers; as well as sharing her insights to the artists’ personalities and practices in the world of dance. Ms. Morales displayed a tutu, toe shoes, a head piece and explained the purpose and challenges of the costuming to enhance dancers’ movements. short segments of the current Miami City Ballet season were also shown. everyone was both delighted and enlightened with a behind-the-scenes tour from such a renowned cos-tume designer.

BOOK REVIEW Hell’s Corner. David Baldacci. Grand Central. 436pp. $27.99.

Reviewed by: Fredric H. Karr, Member of the District of Columbia bar and retired federal government attorney.

“Hell’s Corner. it’s living up to its name.” Or so would seem the action in David Baldacci’s lat-est of the same name. David Baldacci is always worth a read. Hell’s Corner is his 20th book. i favorably critiqued his last seven novels and so too shall i find with Mr. Balda-cci’s most recent. Plus, Hell’s Corner appeared on the Publishers Weekly bestseller list. Reprised from prior Baldacci yarns include Oliver stone, the Camel Club, Annabelle Conroy, Caleb shaw, and Harry Finn. it’s good to see all of you fine folks again! Because of the abundance of effective dia-logue, the storyline moves with ease. Plus, the short chapters only add to the alacrity. Hell’s Corner takes place in washington, D.C. As one who practiced law with the federal gov-

ernment for 26 years (and also went to high school in sub-urban Maryland), it was good to revisit that charming city on the Potomac. speaking of D.C., the author writes that in the Georgetown area, shaw and Chapman “found a parking space on the street, an almost unheard-of event in the con-gested area.” As a longtime resident of D.C., i can certainly attest to the veracity of that observation. Mr. Baldacci also speaks astutely about the D.C. climes. writes him, “The weather in D.C., miserably hot and humid in the summer, and uncomfortably raw in the winter, could suddenly evolve to times like this, when the climate was perfect and you wished the day would never end.” How very true! “Dangerous times, stone. Uncertain times.” And you’ll feel this apprehension as you enjoy Hell’s Corner.

Members have made suggestions as to the kind of events that interest them when they attend board meetings on the second Mon-day of the month at the skolnick Center. As a result of their suggestions, we enjoyed our first Palm-Aire new Year’s eve Celebration. everyone thought it was a spectacular start to the year. we had our first Musical Fashion show last January to a huge, sell-out crowd. in March, we will repeat last year’s successful Card Party. President Behrman went on to say that non-members who attend an event as a guest of a member have been joining the organization. They see first hand how our trips give door-to-door service to the opera, ballet, shows, and concerts; all, of course, include a tasty meal.

Carole Behrman Displays Great Start As New President of

PALM-AIRE FRIENDS OF THE ARTS

Palm-Aire Friends members believe that the Arts matter. That’s why for each of the past two years we raised $20,000 to help support the Arts……....all while having a good time. when asked how she could explain this season’s success, the new President replied there were several reasons. First, she relies on another new officer, Teri Platek, Program Chair, who organized the season’s activities. she also relies on the advice of past officers.

The Broward Center & Mazel Musicals present

And, there are the luncheons. so far this season, we were entertained by Haydee Mo-rales, the costume designer of the Miami City Ballet who shared many personal behind-the-scene stories. The Musical Fashion show held at skolnick Center on January 21 was a huge success.

There were over 125 guests; were you there? This month’s luncheon on February 9 in the east Room of Palm-Aire Country Club will fea-ture a chair-side safari DvD presentation and talk by world traveler, Art stark.

Another reason for the great

start, she shared, was her helpful, patient husband, Larry. she concluded: the events are well-planned, but it seems there is a renewed enthusiasm for Palm-Aire Friends of the Arts. everyone wants to be part of the action. And, President Behrman assured us that everyone is always welcome!

Mike opened his first shop in south Florida in 1983. Master Auto Body feels it is important to select a body shop before you actually need one! The last thing you want after an accident is to have to stress about your vehicle being repaired. Master Auto Body is family owned and operated. They are always looking out for their customers needs first. Please feel free to stop by, check out the facility and get to know Master Auto Body.
