The San Diego Jewish Film Festival is proud to open its 27th season with our annual Underwriter Kickoff Party on August 21, 2016.

We want to say a loud and appreciative “THANK YOU” to those of you who have supported us in the past, and we invite you to become a San Diego Jewish Film Festival Underwriter in time to have your name in lights (literally!) on August 21st.

In becoming an Underwriter, you sustain the wonderful programming that you have come to expect. The upcoming film season will showcase a wide array of international films that explore the full spectrum of Jewish life, values and culture. From February 9-19, 2017 more than 50 new films will be screened at multiple venues countywide.

As well, Underwriters will receive:

• An impressive list of benefits, including the Underwriter-Only Preview Night on February 8, 2017

• Special attractions throughout the festival include: Joyce Forum short film day, Flix Mix event, Teen Screen selection, Family Day film, North County features, Israeli track collection, and Jewish Directors series. These, along with our other festival films, collectively fill over 17,000 seats during the 11-day film festival.

• New Mid-Season programs, like the May 2016 screening of Norman Lear, Just Another Version of You, and our “fall fest” selection in late October 2016.

Of course the bottom line is that your financial support allows us to bring some of the world’s most outstanding Jewish films to San Diego and for this we are sincerely grateful.

This feature length documentary puts a face on the culture of Israel, profiling chefs, home cooks, vintners, and cheese-makers drawn from the more than 100 cultures that make up today’s Israel. Award-winning filmmaker Roger Sherman tells an intimate, authentic, and witty story of “one of the most dynamic food cultures in the world.” Sherman enlists Israeli-born, Philadelphia-raised celebrity chef-restaurateur Michael Solomonov to be his on-camera seeker of culinary wisdom and truth.
