• Armidale Dumaresq Council has commissioned Attentive Consulting PTY Ltd to conduct a

study into the feasibility of the creation of a “Cloud Service” in New England which could

encompass a range of service offerings for the region as a whole.

• The Project’s Executive Sponsor is the Hon. Dr. Richard Torbay, MP

• The project will conduct research and analysis into the following:

• hardware infrastructure and costing for suitable for a Tier 2/3 Datacentre for New

England (Physical Datacentre & housing racks, virtual servers, storage area network

etc)

• software provisioning and costs for cloud services (to include social networking,

datastorage and replication, email, calendar and office type products, plus other

products)

• call centre telephony technologies

• requirements for call centre operations in New England

• requirements for transactional-service sharing, cf. Payroll, Procure to Pay etc

• physical locations suitable for situating a datacentre and call/ transactions centre –

special reference to be made to green datacentre requirements for carbon loading

• potential partners at commercial and public levels to support the centre

• New England Business and Public interest in supporting a cloud service

• impact upon the local economy, collaborative opportunities for the region, social or

community infrastructure which will expand the development and growth of the

• Regional Development Australia Fund

• Federal Government – NBN/Minister for Broadband

• Software and Hardware Vendors (to include CISCO, Microsfoft etc)

• Local Cooperative Research Centres

• Local CSIRO

• Meat Livestock Australia

• The Agricultural Research Institute

• A business and public survey will be conducted online

• Workshops will be conducted with a core evaluation team on:

• Design of Appropriate Services

• Financial Modelling for development and sustainability

• Options Appraisal and recommendations

• The output of the project will be an information website and a report and recommendations to

enable Armidale Council to submit to the Regional Development Australia Fund and other upcoming

financial awards.
