FASHION SHOOTAt the top of one of the most beautiful terraces in Milan you will feel closer to the sun, to summer and far away from the chaos of the city. This is what our fashion editorial is all about; it’s time to prepare for the sea resorts season and to start dreaming. How to enjoy the first sun rays and how to be less serious? Find out on the pages dedicated to our fashion story.

MARINA BUGRANOVA EDITOR IN CHIEF

Backpacks for the shows, clutches for the day, and shopping-bags for the evening, another stereotype was destroyed by Consuelo Castiglioni, the classic shopper is not just a functional bag anymore, it turns out to be absolutely remarkable.

There is only one day a year to celebrate one of the most remarkable emotions - joy. The first of April opens a new season

of optimism that won’t go out of fashion no matter the boring economical and political news we hear every day. During the recent autumn collections presented models almost seemed as though they were coming out of a fairytale on the Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana runways. Karl Lagerfeld and Jeremy Scott played with modern phenomenons, dressing models in Sponge-Bob costumes for Moschino and arranging a fashion parade looking like a colourful supermarket for Chanel. Fashion Week showed us a surreal reality calling out irony, humour and courage to encourage us to open up to our true selves.

In this issue we share our small spring joys, interviews of inspiring people, romantic venues in Verona, favourite sceneries and places in Milan. And of course we advise you to join us for design week, no less intense than fashion week. Spring is making our desires to go out into the streets blossom and fashion knows how to help us once again, especially when it comes to women’s sneakers that under the catwalk lights were glowing like never before. Designers try hard to inspire us with colours, irony and games. To move this euphoria from magazines pages to real life remains up to us.

ALBERTO LAPENNA,ILLUSTRATOR

I consider drawing as the highest form of expression; it’s all about fantasy and creation. I have no memory of the first time I began illustrating but I remember myself always with pencil and colours in my hands. In my art I try to keep a graphic mark as protagonist, in the design phase but also in the final outcomes, it happens as well in my photographs, my other great passion. I studied Fine Arts that has refined my technicality, but also my passion to spend my free time between exhibitions and museums has helped me to develop my expertise. My third passion is fashion, and often it’s the push that leads me to create, and allows me to give my personal view of the designer’s masterpieces.Spring: what does it represent to you? For me spring is not only a season, but it’s a movement of the soul and an unexpected inspiration. It’s like a white sheet of paper where to draw on every idea, feeling, and pleasure that comes into your mind.

PRISCILA DOMINGUEZ VIDALES,GRAPHIC DESIGNER After a degree in graphic designat Mexico City and a master’sdegree in Visual and Webdesign, Priscila has workedin the most important designstudios, f irstly in Mexico andthen in Italy. She has held several rolessuch as art director, exhibitiondesigner, graphic designer, pattern designer and she isnow the graphic designer ofFashion and Beauty Milan.

Spring: what does it represent to you? For me, Spring it’s a physicaland psychological recharge;I love it’s explosion of coloursand scents.Days are getting longer andthe mild climate encouragesoutputs: walking in parks, various outings and trips.Spring is also found in art:music, painting and sculpture. What more can I say....Fingers up for Spring!!

SILVIA SADECKA,MAKE-UP ARTIST

Freelance make-up artist Silvia Sadecka was born in Slovakia and has lived in Italy for almost 13 years. Colours, art, fashion, design and avant-garde have always fascinated her. Years ago she decided to transform her passion into her work and went to study at the make-up academy in Turin.Creating, experimenting and accomplishing something new are essential factors for her. She loves working as a fashion make-up artist and express her ideas by

“painting faces”. Spring: what does it represent to you? Spring is my favourite season ever; I am able to recharge myself with new positive energy. For me it’s like an awakening, like a breath of fresh air. I see spring as the season of nature. It’s amazing to observe how colours change throughout this months. Nature during spring time is a great source of inspiration. It is a period of new pastel colours, a nest of new ideas, and a demonstration of pure beauty.

IVONA JOSIPOVIC,FASHION WRITER

Always curious and creative, Ivona Josipovic discovered her interest in fashion from an early age. She started studying fashion design in Belgrade and later on she came to f inish her masters in Fashion Communication in Milan.

She is now a contributor for various magazines and co-founder of The Smoke Detector website. Spring: what does it represent to you? My thoughts about spring: I f ind that this season always leads people spirits into thinking positive about everything. As nature awakens and blossoms our minds are more opened and inspired.

It’s amazing how a slight rise of sun can change our mood and that’s what I’ll be looking for in fashion this season, something fresh and playful.

SWAN LAKE FROM THE 15TH OF APRIL TO THE 11TH OF MAY | LA SCALA | MILAN

Swan Lake is certainly Tchaikovsky’s most touching work and the most loved ballet. In Rudolf Nureyev’s version, the absolute protagonist is Siegfried, a romantic prince whose soul is more melancholy, contemplative and meditative than heroic. When “his” Lake comes to La Scala, Nureyev keeps the ambiguous symmetrical key role for himself, that of Wolfgang/Rothbart. But it is for the Prince that Nureyev creates demanding variations, placing him in the heart of the dramaturgical structure. The precious and historic staging by Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino carefully douses lights and colors and reflects the romanticism of the music in a reference to Monet, to represent Tchaikovsky’s pure white swans on the placid yet anxious water of the Giverny garden.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a spectacular ballet, conceived by a master of this art. Rudolf has imposed his noblesse, his brio and his charisma in his version of “Swan Lake” in the Milanese temple of classical music. Guest artists: Polina Semionova, David Hallber.teatroallascala.org

Now Robbie is back with the desire to leave positive vibes. In May he arrives in Turin and it will surely be an excellent opportunity to listen live to the album ‘Swings Both Ways’. It is one of the best-selling CD’s of recent times, thanks to collaborations with Lily Allen, Michael Bublé, Rufus Wainwright and Olly Murs. Williams is very VIP; he has sold over 70 million records worldwide, he is the best-selling British solo artist in the UK, and the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America. Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the UK, and in 2006 he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 1.6 million tickets of his Close Encounters Tour in a single day. Milan is considered to be the capital of fashion and Made in Italy. What does it mean to be at the head of this city?Being Mayor of Milan is a source of pride, it is an honour and sometimes, I admit, even a burden. Milan has been called several times the moral capital of Italy. It’s definitely the economic capital, the city that more than any other is demonstrating the ability not only to survive, but to revive despite the complicated period that all of Europe is going through. In this process of re-launching, fashion and Made in Italy are definitely a point of reference.

MAYOR’S VISION

SUGGESTIONS FROM GIULIANO PISAPIA

San Siro stadium

CITY GUIDE PERSONA

1. THE TEMPLE OF OPERA, the Teatro alla Scala, a symbol of Milan recognized all around the world.2. THE TEMPLE OF FOOTBALL, San Siro, where the teams AC

Milan and Inter Milan play, the two city teams. 3. THEN, THERE ARE MUSEUMS THAT OFFER IMPORTANT EXHIBITIONS, such as Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento,

Brera, Pac/Triennale/Fabbrica del Vapore, just to name a few. 4. A TOURIST THAT LOVES THE MADE IN ITALY AND LOVES FASHION? Obviously, there’s the fashion district (Via

Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Manzoni and Corso Venezia, plus the small streets of the area): offers not only the windows of great brands, but also amazing views of the city.

GIULIANO PISAPIABorn in 1949, Giuliano Pisapia is an Italian lawyer and politician, twice member of the Parliament and Mayor of Milan since 1st of June 2011. In Milan’s mayoral elections, he was nominated by a large left-wing coalition. As a lawyer, he participated in a number of notable trials with political implications.

Being at the head of the Italian fashion capital it is an honour but also a commitment. Giuliano Pisapia, the Milan Mayor, talks about fashion, Expo and his cityINTERVIEW: Valerio VENTURI

What type of relationship has your administration system in according to the fashion industry? In these years we have built - day after day, thanks to the efforts of the councillor responsible of Fashion, Cristina Tajani

- a great fruitful cooperation with the National Chamber of Fashion. Made in Italy not only contributes to the revival of the economic system, but also to make the city more attractive. From here, famous designers come through, innovations are thought out and space is given to youngsters in order to build up our future.

What can be done for the Made in Italy and the fashion system? The question about the Made in Italy products of quality and creativity in Milan have been growing steadily, as has been confirmed by a recent survey conducted by the Centro Altagamma. As Directors, we are committed in promoting cooperation between the public sector and operators to make the most of the competitiveness of the creative industry, combining where it is possible also the image of the city. Milan is inextricably synonymous of excellence, creativity and quality.

What about Fashion? For the first time, precisely due to the strengthened collaboration between the Municipality of Milan, Altagamma, Milan Chamber of Commerce, National Chamber of Fashion and Cosmit, we have come to the definition of a single calendar of events – in honour of Milan Fashion Week - an expression of “Milan Creative”. Events that have involved the whole city, from the cultural prospective and using presentations related to the world of fashion and design. Starting in an experimental form of a unified calendar of events and the relative App

available for tablets and Smartphone’s have enhanced even further the creativity, craftsmanship and refinement that are hallmarks of fashion, but also key drivers for the economy and symbol of the true image of our city: these are the values that characterize our way of life and our culture, which combines research, innovation and taste.

Milan in five adjectives:Bubbly, friendly, attractive, functional and vibrant.

Next year there’s the Expo. What meaning has it for you?Expo represents a great opportunity; it will be the first major event after the crisis. It also represents an opportunity for Milan to be at the centre of the global debates on major issues which hinge at the future of the planet: food security, the right of healthy food, water as a common good and fighting against waste.

Have you had a lot of support? What is the goal?Recently I was in Johannesburg for the summit of the C40 Mayors, the network of the city for the fight against climate change. I involved the Mayors of the largest cities in the world to work together for a great goal: Milan, in the coming months, will provide a food policy, as already done by other cities such as London, New York and Amsterdam.

From the Kyoto Protocol, born on environmental issues, we arrive at the Milan protocol, based on issues related to food. PERSONA INTERVIEW

Laura Pausini confirmed her international success, selling millions of copies worldwide with her new album “Greatest hits” - featuring international stars such as Kylie Minogue and Andrea Bocelli. She talks with us about her life being a mother, her music and ArmaniTEXT: Marco CASTROVINCI, PHOTO: Courtesy of press offices

ITALIAN POP PRINCESS

Twenty, twenty-one indeed. Many years have passed since that Saturday in February of 1993, when at the Sanremo

Festival she triumphed with her hit single, “La Solitudine “, which brightened her star, and never stopped shining since. Two decades of success, millions of records sold worldwide, and exactly those songs took her to travel all around the world, each time with more and more unshakable knowledge that she became a star. A diva that has never forgotten her origins, that has always claimed with pride and with a tireless sense of gratitude.

Laura Pausini is today a happy person. You can tell by listening to the double collection published last November, “ The 20 Greatest Hits” released in Italy and in other 46 countries that reported her publicly and cosmopolitan story in a human and familiar dimension. In this album, there is a lot of content: there is the myth of the self-congratulated Pausini, and the tale about the family, highlighted in particular by two tracks: “Ramaya”, 25 seconds of recording found by the father and dated back 1976 with her being 2 years old and a look “that represents me a lot, first shy and then confident and determined”, and a home recording where Paola, her daughter says for the first time “Mama.”

“Since I was born I realized that I used to run a thousand roads to look for something that I could never f ind. Then since I live with her, I feel like I have found my goal”, says today Pausini, while

Page 31: Fashion&Beauty Milan Apr/May 2014

TODAY I LIVE WITH MORE LIGHT, WITH MORE SERENITY THAN BEFORE. SO I ASKED ARMANI, MY STYLIST, TO DRESS ME IN WHITE on the radio her new single is playing “Dove resto solo io”. “Each one of us has a special someone with whom to share the joy of loneliness” – she explains in regards to her song. “After twenty years, I managed to speak about this mood in a very different way than I used to before. It does not necessarily have to be our life partner- it can be a child, a parent, a friend or our passion. I also tell of how, sometimes, it is wonderful to be alone with yourself and everything around you it’s turned off.”

Not surprisingly, “Dove Resto Solo Io”(Where I only remain) is one of the three new songs from the album, after “Limpido” (Clear)- a duet with Kylie Minogue and “Se non Te”(If not you) dedicated to her daughter, had with her partner and guitarist Paolo Carta. The other 35 songs in the album are ideally revolved around a centre of gravity, which includes “La Solitudine”(Loneliness), the beginning of everything. “I thought” said Laura “that at that point I wanted to make myself a special gift, so I called professor Ennio Morricone, certain that he would say no. I desired the hand of a genius that could transform a song into a movie, which would have been a fortune.” Instead, the professor said yes, and from here Laura restarts - again - the whole story.

What unfolds now in many other collaborations for example the ones with Marc Anthony, Andrea Bocelli and Miguel Bosé . “I keep steady on the road that seem natural to me” says Laura. “I sing as I eat, and in a really “pop” way.”

She wanted to grant herself a gift in style for the cover of her double album: set on a white background where she is photographed wearing a dress “inspired by Bianca Jagger” the actress and former model who in 1971 married the front-man of the Rolling Stones with whom she had a daughter with, Jade. “I saw an old photo

of her and I said to myself: I want to dress like that. Today I live with more light, with more serenity than before. And so I asked Armani, my stylist, to dress me in white. I am pictured smiling, in the “tree” yoga position, which means balance.”Now Laura Pausini is back doing what she does best, and that is singing live. After the success of the tour dates in Rome and Milan, and the tour that will take her all around Europe, South America and Usa, Laura will celebrate her birthday on May 16th , when she will turn 40 years old, singing in one of the most beautiful places in the world, at Teatro Antico in Taormina. See you in spring, where for f ive dates in which she will trace her history once again, with a section of strings of 14 elements on stage and the scent of f lowers blossoming in Sicily on the background.

Colour is out! The hottest non-colour is dominating the runways of some of the biggest designers,

giving a refreshing choice for Spring / Summer 2014. The market has been saturated with too many strong and vibrant shades and now it is the time to change. The great thing about white is its versatility, it can be adopted in many styles with different interpretations, no matter which direction each designer decides to go, a head to toe white look is a breath of fresh air.

9. STYLE WALK I love Stella McCartney’s shoes,

they are made more or less in classic forms, but they find always the way to get noticed. They have a refined elegance but at the same time a lot of personality. A must have!

BARBARA CENTAZZO9 Things that inspire me in AprilThis spring there are many styles to take inspiration from, fashion is getting closer to a new originality, heavily inf luenced by the subculture. Street-wear is taking a step to becoming a trend, and the great movements of the past re-emerge in a new and more exciting way, and the interesting thing is that there are so many styles that we can tap into what we like the most. Jump into the fray and mix the elements as you like, for me this is spring, the desire to dress up in a new and more daring way than usual.

1.WHIMSICAL BLUE Chloe has always given us timeless

elegant collections in a classic boho style. This season I really like this earthy colour blue outfit, with the particular top created in hidden knots. A little bit extravagant but comfortable!

2.GEOMETRICAL FEELING Marni’s style is always a little bit

outside the box with its imaginative collections. The accessories are not outdone; I’m in love with the entire series, and especially with this geometric shape ring.

3.ORANGE VIBE Vibrant and energetic colour,

timeless and very sophisticated, it gives immediate brightness to the hands with his radiant shade. The perfect colour for spring!

4. WEAR YOUR HAT The Paul Smith SS14 collection,

had a strong 70s feel (that I have always liked) with optimistic colours and soft feminine interpretation. I think that this hat is a really stylish accessory for the spring warm days.

5. ALL YOU NEEDSmall bags and summer go hand

in hand, and this Chloe bag is a perfect example. Colourful, mini in size but rich in detail, easy to turn into a clutch and just right for every occasion. Just lovely!

6.LIGHT MY FIREA prefect everyday jewel, worn

on its own or layered with similar golden chains, this delicate Stella McCartney’s necklace with a burn out match stick pendant. Available in different colours, but my favourite is of course the black one. In my whislist!

7.ART AND LOVE At the Scuderie del Quirinale in

Rome, a big exhibition of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, one of my favourite artists finally in Italy, I’m very inspired by her vision of art and life. Must see.

8. RETRÒ STYLEThere is nothing better in spring

than a nice pair of sunglasses to protect us from sun rays. Everyone has to choose the most suitable shape for their face, I opt for a retro frame inspired by the 80’s.

In spring time the whole nature awakes and it feels as if the color is brought back after the cold, grey winter days. This feeling of blushing

back into life is expressed in fashion as well. For this spring/summer designers found inspiration in the sweet cotton candy shades that brought a feeling of ease and softness to catwalks that looked like a summer sorbet.

British fashion house Burberry showed a full collection inspired by English roses. Pieces seemed tender and soft in different shades of pastels. It offered a modern vision of the 50’s girl in lace pencil skirt and with a fluffy cardigan hanging over her shoulders.

Prabal Gurung also sought inspiration in the timeless beauty of a rose.

However, his inspiration came with a twist as he also found beauty in its thorns. Prabal’s pieces celebrated elegant woman that he put in the modern context. The 50’s vibes was evident in femininity and shapes that celebrated womanhood in gentle pastel shades.

A certain sense of ease was present in Jason Wu’s show where the

construction allowed the body to give the final form to the garment. His inspiration came from a closer decade, as Jason flirted with the 90’s that have been trending for the past few seasons. Deceptively simple dresses in the shades of barely-there beige, green and blush often revealed corsets underneath and other unexpected details.

It was also a surprise seeing Peter Pilotto put a modern twist on crinoline that was in some cases exposed. Peter and his creative partner Christopher De Vos played with candy hues but in the form of prints. The

absolute masters of geometric fantasies used mostly shades of

icy mint and blue, contrasting them with stronger colors for full

effect. Combination of lace, prints and embroideries made the pieces quite intriguing and surreal. A dose of femininity was brought in with the use of sculpted full skirts that never looked so fresh.

The past few seasons have been no stranger to the trends of pastel hues, but it feels as if this spring all designers had a sweet tooth for the candied pastel looks. The colors range from powder pink and heavenly lavender to icy shades of mint and sky blueTEXT: Ivona JOSIPOVIC

Karl Lagerfeld used organza to create a spectrum of colors that went from pastel to bright. This fabric helped create the lightness of color palette pieces. Also playing with transparency Dior showed see-through skirts worn with long blazers. Light pastels were used combined with other trends such as pleats, cut-outs and slogans. Raf mostly used pink and blue while playing with the shapes and fabrics. Putting her own spin on modern femininity Emma Hill, in her last collection for Mulberry, brought together light and heavy fabrics in her monochromatic pastel looks. More designers optioned to make head-to-toe looks in one shade and just spice it up with different materials.

Even Olivier Rousteing of Balmain fell for cotton candy pink that he incorporated in his signature power pieces inspired by the 80’s. Isabel Marant wasn’t able to resist either, as she juggled the romantic-yet-tough aesthetic that she became famous for. Blooms of chiffon, slip on dresses and lace made her pastel pink pieces positively sweet. On the other hand, Alexander Wang took blush tones and showed cool and sporty pieces that we usually wouldn’t expect to see in these tones. Sporty, retro or feminine powder pink was all over the runways.

This season pastels allow women to get in touch with their femininity choosing between romantic retro inspired pieces and clean fresh lines. From different colors, shapes and fabrics join the fashion’s sweeter side and choose your candy crush.

of furniture inherited from their grandmothers and they look after them very carefully. They follow the same line in terms of what they wear and how they look - every detail is thoroughly thought over, nothing is random. Since childhood they’ve known how to combine things and what colour is suitable for any given occasion. They are always “ironed” and

“starched”, and that is very impressive! With our appearance we can gain respect for ourselves and from people around us! We could bring this small charge of beauty into the world every day. Italian’s have it! And I like

When did you come to Italy? Which are the most significant events that have happened to you since?I came to Milan to attend the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1998.It was the most significant moment in my life, moving to Italy, I mean. Almost immediately, while taking exams, I met my future husband. All that has happened to me since – in regards to people and events – are all related to him. But the way it grew out or ended up depended on me.

What inspired you to create Taccori?Since I was a child I’ve been making clothes, I sewed and knitted. Burda Moden was my handbook. You didn’t have much choice in the Soviet Union, but I always loved sewing. This passion came from my grandmother; she was a tailor and used to sew for the whole village where we lived. My grandfather gave her a very cool sewing machine with the versatility to do a range of sewing tasks. Then after 15 years of working in the fashion industry in Milan, so my brand was and is a result of a long creative process.

How has the Russian buyers’ vision of fashion changed in recent years? Thanks to Aphrodite (the goddess of beauty and love, as we know) Russian people, especially men, have fallen in love with colours again and learnt (or are still learning) how to combine them! I say

“again”, because Russian / Ukrainian national costume is a riot of bright colours. At one point in time when we started to work with the European fashion, we suddenly forgot about our traditions and we only wore black colours. 999 was an indicate code for ordering in many showrooms. I’ve learned it and I will forever, because the column “colour” in all orders consisted of almost all 9’s! And there was a joke about the favourite colours of Russian buyers – cherny, nero, black.

What can Italian women advise (teach) us in terms of fashion and style?I’ve always said: French women have style. But Italian’s are posh! All Italian’s adhere to the cult of the home and cleanliness. Their house sparkles clean with fragrant air. Each thing is in its proper place. Everything is in the correct colour. There are always some items

it. I don’t really like when people dress in a relaxed and careless way. For teenagers it can be charming, but women after their 30’s should learn how to look elegant. This is my opinion.

How did your years of work experience with well-known fashion brands influence your own style?Everything can affect our style if we want to and nothing will if we are blind and closed minded. There are people who have been living in Italy for a long time and who work in the fashion industry like I do, but they look as if they have just moved from Birulevo (one of the suburban districts of Moscow, Russia), even if their families are wealthy. I think that we

are born with certain tastes and ideals, in the Ukrainian city where I come from I was always told “you are not like us”, that was because of how I looked. Though I knew and loved the Ukrainian culture (and above all our traditional clothes) more than people who told me so.

Working in the fashion industry, you try to learn and “to absorb” as much as you can from great couturiers on how to create clothes, combine shapes, colors and textures. I am often told that I have an innate taste and sense of style, but I believe that everyone can learn to dress up. There is nothing complicated about it. You just need to observe, analyze and try it on. Of course, at first you’d better find a right role model to

follow. Look for famous fashion brands and big icons and you can’t go wrong.

What do you do to keep yourself in shape, look and feel great?Unfortunately, at the moment I

am doing nothing for it because I haven’t got time at all! I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and that’s my salvation. In general, for my well-being I need yoga, jogging in the morning, fresh air and 7 hours of sleep. Add a good cream for my skin care and a perfect mood. I think

this suits everyone.

What are your favorite places in Milan?

I always talk about Milan patios. I’ve been living in St. Petersburg

for 10 years – all my studentship and youth, St. Pete courtyards were always

a trouble, you can feel the city’s beauty by simply strolling the streets and parks, on the other hand, Milan is a more indoor city. You can hardly fall in love with it at first glance; first you need to know it from the inside. Often massive gloomy buildings can reveal their beauty and elegance only when you get inside them, and every time is a finding! Milan looks dim, but it has a rich history and some secrets. Milan is a little bit snobbish; it has no intention to allure everyone. It bares its soul to those who are worthy of it but only after they have shown some interest. Then it’s ready to open itself and show its hidden places.Museo Bagatti Valsecchi and Museo Poldi Pezzoli, where I sit as a member of the supervisory board, are good examples. They are situated in the centre of Milan, but ask those who have come to Milan for 10 years or more if they have ever visited these museums.

Long-awaited, there is no other way to describe Fashion Week in Milan, dedicated to trends of the incoming winter. After the baroque influence

of last year’s edition of the event, marked by new, simple elegance, after a colourful summer, with decisive cuts and soft volumes, we were all asking ourselves what the stylists would bring to us for the new winter collection. Nobody was disappointed. Light, Colour, Energy: enters the scene Blumarine, choosing to restyle kimono’s adding a modern key to it (very luxurious), light ref lections on the silk or on the lame’ jacquard , cup-shaped gold foils and magical dresses in lace guilloche. A real magic, like the tales by Andersen and Brothers Grimm, which are the centre of the Dolce & Gabbana show: owls, foxes and red riding hood’s come alive in the

form of prints, inlays and in lace appliqués, these are the creations worn by the models, f luttery elegant fairy’s on the runway, but only for the duration of the fashion show. To rediscover the beauty of the fabrics and the precious tailoring is Ermanno Scervino, with petticoats that become glamorous even if in technical fabrics, worn under camel-coloured and mutton coats, where masculine tuxedo’s become very feminine, with “pyjama-trousers” and maxi bows. Scenic backdrop made of fume’ mirrors that ref lects a traveller, busy, passionate and ageless women. We see a cosy and sensual style that throughout the language of enveloping and precious materials, couture creations with metropolitan details are born by the inspiration of sportswear, by which high-knits are the protagonists.

Fendi, on the other hand, chooses not to choose: furs, fabrics, silks, wools and satins play amongst them, recreating literally the outfits on the runway. Return to the order and a tribute to colour and transparencies for Francesco Scognamiglio that takes to the catwalk a sophisticated and determined femininity, a stream of not forced sensuality, but enhanced by the beauty of the textiles and by the chromatic notes.

Minimal choices for Frida Giannini, the creative director of Gucci: “I wanted to crystallize the essence of Gucci to create the line garments to be clean and rigorous, but carried out with f ine materials and declined within an inedited colour palette, to obtain pure glamour. “Lines are dry and geometrical which characterize the collection and are broken by the fur’s softness; colours are candy: celestial, blue, green, pink, yellow, all rigorously pastel and plain coloured, with intervals of leather, camel and the unforgettable black. No Essential, and another kind of luxury, for Just Cavalli , that surprises us once again with bold, dynamic, and rebellious shapes. The fur coats, very colourful,

COLOURS COME BACK TO POPULATE THE CATWALKS: ORANGES, FUCHSIA, ELECTRIC BLUES ARE INVADING THE RUNWAYS. THIS IS THE NEW CONCEPT OF GLAMOURaccompany the garments that do not abandon the distinctive animal hallmark, but this time in multicolour, even more dynamic and transgressive. On the catwalk the priceless artistic heritage of the Florentine Renaissance and the love of the stylist for his city, which becomes the main character of the garments, thanks to the prints designed to thrill.

The bands and the marble panels by Santa Maria Novella and by the Battistero of Duomo, the Aurora of Segrestio Nuova and the statues of the Medici pay tribute to Florence throughout a style that paints the classics within the culture of today. Green f lashes lemon- coloured give a sense of wonder at the grey and black tints of the dresses that Armani takes to the catwalk, as well as the macro slot jackets, cabans and coats.

Lime-tainted stones come back within the embroidery of the night gowns, mixed with f lannel effect stones with slight veins, because for King George every detail underlines, once again, liberation from the rules and constraints. Oriental lines and forms, but introduced by the Western Giacomo Leopardi and Jose Saramago, are inspiration and main characters of the catwalk for the new collection by the Sardinian designer Antonio Marras. On the catwalk we see women werewolf, lionesses which are as strong and sure about themselves as, at the same time, rich of independent sensuality, wrapped in iridescent textiles, once again told in the form of a game between valuable textiles and unusual suggestive textures. A decisive woman that makes of fashion especially a new ideal way of femininity.

A PARADISE FOR HIGHQUALITY SHOPPING. FASHION, FOOD, BEAUTY AND DESIGN: EVERYTHING IS HERE!

A unique shopping experience. Fashion, beauty, accessories, food and design mingle together in the historic building at Galleria del

Corso 4, in the heart of Milan; now completely renovated by acclaimed architect, Jean Nouvel.Yes, Excelsior is definitely a place to visit, while you are in Milan! 4000 squares, divided over seven floors and inside an architectural casing of ribbon-like video installations that create a kaleidoscopic effect, and a network of floating lifts and escalators. The old Excelsior was actually a cinema: now it has been raised to new heights as the innovative icon of worldwide shopping.

The – 1st floor is dedicated to Eat’s Store, a food market designed to suit the more demanding customers. A vast range of food and wines, with dedicated corners and specific spaces for quality fresh products. Eat’s Store leads onto a restaurant where Eat’s (ground floor), will regularly host an internationally famous “guest chef”. They give their interpretations of the exclusive products of Eat’s, with a contemporary culinary approach. There are four separate areas: the “now” of the take away, the “fast” of the bistro, the “slow” of the restaurant and the “sushi” of White. Surrounded by a friendly and social atmosphere, where passion for food and fine dining reaches a high degree of luxury. Overlooking the Galleria

del Corso, a next-generation design bar where the atmosphere changes to suit the time of day. On the same floor of the area is dedicated to beauty, with exclusive fragrances and the finest make up brands. This is where you can find Tiffany&Co for example, shop-in-shop, which is the first in Italy to open inside a multibrand store. Then you can find a luxury cake and pastry store, Ladurèe, an area dedicated to books, stationery and technology, plus Aveda and Numero9 corners.

Do you prefer fashion? The first floor is entirely dedicated to contemporary American designers and aimed at women customers: Helmut Lang, Theory, Rag & Bone and Alice+Olivia, mixed with international accessories from Antipast, Mario Portolano,Roda, No Ka’ Oi chic sportwear, Atelier Vm precious creations and a limited edition from Borsalino. Milanese multi-brand boutique Antonia is the point of reference for the international fashion community, also on the 2nd floor with Antonia Men. The selection here is dedicated to menswear, with a marked preference for

informal style and denim, mixed with the work of up-and-coming designers and the traditional must-haves: Givenchy, Kenzo, Balmain, Neil Barret, Salvatore Piccolo, Christian Louboutin, Valentino, Church’s, are some of the brand within this store.Antonia has also overseen the area dedicated to women’s fashion, footwear and accessories (3rd and 4th floor): here Antonia Giacinti presents iconic brands like Proenza Schouler, Chloé, Marni, and new brands such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Isabel Marant, Msgm, Each X Other.

...These and many other brands and talents for a sensation of total, continual stimulation of the senses. Excelsior is definitely an area filled with energy, where ideas and suggestions flow into one another, chosen by a team of avant-garde selectors and prestigious partners. Not by chance, the entire Excelsior’s project was born and was taken care by “number ones” of creativity and style: architectural design by Jean Nouvel; interior design by Vincenzo De Cotiis; art and Video Direction by Marco Braga; Visual Merchandising by Jo Ann Tan; Content Video by Matt Pyke; Sound Identity by Stefano Fontana; Buying Consultant Maurizio Purificato. A dream-team of creatives, guaranteed for a memorable and rewarding shopping experience.

The beginning of my career. It all started by chance, I studied marketing and my professor, after reading my essay in regards to the communication of fashion brands, advised me to follow the path of journalism. Following her tip, I enrolled myself into a master in fashion journalism at the Accademia del Costume e Moda in Rome, which ended with an internship at the Corriere della Sera. Then it all started, and these fields have entered indelibly my life.

Fashion for me. It is fun, genius, creative and modern. Allows you to keep up with time and it is my biggest passion, which fulf ils my life.

Best places to shop in Milan. Banner, which presents the best collections of Italian and International designers; Biff i with the best contemporary brands in continuous innovation and research; Frip in the young area of the San Lorenzo columns; or 10 Corso Como, La vetrina di Beryl, Antonioli, Antonia, the luxury mall Excelsior, which in addition to fashion you can f ind also many beauty and design products, but also shops like Cos и & Other Stories.

Must have of the season. I really like the Christopher Kane’s jumper, a combination of technology and botany, artif icial and organic, with its anatomical orchid print; the Charlote Olympia’s cat-f lat which are an arrangement of modern design and playful style; I also love the bags of Paula Cademartori that are really beautiful and comfortable, the icon jumper with mouths print of the Au Jour Le Jour, an emerging brand that I actually follow a lot.

My favourite brands. I really like fashion and as result of this, I like so many brands that if I started to name them the list would

become too long; I can dwell on Saint Laurent, which I love the style that Hedi Slimane gave to the brand, I pretty much love all his collections. N°21, which always offers a modern wardrobe, distinctive, with a keen eye on the trend of the moment, and I really liked his latest collection with embroidery and inlay matched with leather and silk. There are a lot of new designers such as Arthur Arbesser with its original and precious collections that I like a lot; he does a great research work at the base of his creations. The fun prints or animal drawings of Au Jour Le Jour, are just lovely and makes them absolutely unique, using

bright and vibrant colours combined with pastel tones. Flavia La Rocca that makes multifunctional and feminine items; or Andrea Incontri with his poetry and refinement touch; and also the handbag brand Sara Battaglia that creates real must have’s; and of course Paula Cademartori that I have mentioned before and recommend to everyone to look at.

«I really like accessories, I have an indefinite number of rings, necklaces,… which I have collected from all around the world.»

«These Chloé shoes, represent the best item of my outfits during this period.»

«I love the colour red and the fringes of this Sara Battaglia’s bag.»

Just as spring burst with vibrant colors and fresh energy the boutiques also begin to bloom with joyful creations for everyone. Especially for children,

who are impatient with spring fever, to rush out the door and head to the parks. Spring and summer is undoubtedly the favorite time of year for kids, freed from all the multilayers of coats, sweaters, gloves and scarves, no longer stuck indoors from the harsh winter. Dreams of playing soccer in the f ields, playgrounds, going on school trips, and family vacations are f inally coming true. Now is the time for choosing a new spring wardrobe, for certainly our precious little ones have out grown last years selection.Parents will be delighted by the collections that the designers have prepared for them. The lovely confections of Miss Blumarine have the spirit of spring in them. Delicate tones of pink, blue, mint, white and coral feel like a f ield of f lowers. Appropriate for everyday dressy, Sunday’s best, or special occasions. We love the satin ballet slippers sprinkled with rhinestones.

GAULTIER JUNIORFrom season to season, Jean-Paul Gaultier never stops saying that fashion should not be taken too seriously and surprisingly this season he presents a kids line, which reflects the designer’s DNA, where a romantic touch is combined with rebellious and practical edges.

DOLCE & GABBANA JUNIORThis luxury spring-summer kids collection is a mini-me version of the signature adult line. Prints of ancient Greek columns, Chinese flowering trees, tropical leaves, Italian and Greek motives, and golden dresses with belts in the form of coins - all these migrated from the catwalks straight into the little

“fashionistas” wardrobes. Some decorative elements used in the patterns of girl wear, can also be seen in the boys line.

FENDI KIDSEvery new season Fendi presents a more stylized child’s collection and the spring-summer 2014 will not disappoint anyone. Who else rather than Karl Lagerfeld can create a kids line that recalls the geometric patterns used within the adult collection.

DSQUARED2

The Italian brand Dsquared² launched their first kids

fashion line in the spring of 2014 collection. The

clothing line follows the aesthetic of the brand and it’s playful, cool and easy-

to-wear character adding a few theatrical touches.

GUCCIBright blouses, denim overalls, cropped pants

and perky shorts - what more can a little “fashionista”

dream about!

STELLA MCCARTNEYBeing a mother of a large family, Stella McCartney knows already

at firsthand what type of clothing children really need. Therefore,

in the spring- summer collection the designer focuses on the

convenience, the cheerful and nature-friendly design. From the

very beginning Stella has been doing her best to make kids clothes

wearable and affordable.

SCARLET FEVERThe red bag is never out of fashion, it’s chic and fun. No other shade feels quite as sensuous and it can be a bold way to punctuate your classic everyday look.

FARAWAY LANDSThe ethnic style is back in fashion this summer, bringing with it warm tones, geometric patterns, and colors that remind us of distant lands and cultures. Many of the inspirations, such as fringes, all the way to the particular manufacturing of the textiles that wrap the figure in superimposed layers, speak of tribal origins. The accessories play a major role in this trend. Bracelets, necklaces and ornaments are definitely the leaders of this look. It’s time to exaggerate with accessories.

The moment a woman wears high heels, her posture uprights (strengthens) and she immediately looks much more confident. While

she makes her way through the crowd admiring glances will follow her. High-heeled shoes even if not always being so comfortable they will never go out of fashion, women are often willing to undergo a little inconvenience for the sake of getting attention and feeling confident.

As time passes, several factors of practical and aesthetic nature have fostered the creation of heels. Shoemakers noticed that f lat shoes used to wore out faster, so the first heels were invented to protect shoes and prolong their endurance. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks were interested in the esthetic aspects of high-heeled shoes.

For some time this attribute symbolized the high status of the owner, while for others it helped to make their actors look taller.Further mentioning of heels has been found in the XV century. In Renaissance times it was typical to enhance human beauty, so it is not surprising that people have turned to the

heeled footwear. Later, in the XVI century, Mary Tudor, famous trend-setter, shocked the court with her heels. However, the broadest fashion sense of heels got its spread only by the middle of the XX century due to some maestros. In 1953 Roger Vivier, British designer, created exclusive high and thin heels, decorated with rubies especially made for Elizabeth’s coronation. This model was so extraordinary that Vivier immediately started to get orders from the most famous people of those days. He could not refuse them, as well as the millions orders by ordinary ladies who understood at once that nothing could compare with a woman walking so elegantly on her high-heeled shoes. Another famous maestro of high heels is Salvatore Ferragamo. He is believed to be the inventor of 10 cm stilettos. That is to say that his invention impressed the female population immediately – first

stilettos were wooden and broke easily, only after Ferragamo realized that putting the heel on a metal rod and swift it, stilettos became more resistant and broke into fashion straight away.Manolo Blahnik is the other «shoe king», it was he who placed high heeled shoes on the fashion pedestal. Having entered the world of high fashion due to the editor of American Vogue, Diana Vreeland, Manolo graced the shows of iconic Maisons such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and John Galliano with his high heels.

Time moves on, and designers of extraordinary shoes, cannot stand still, they are always thinking of new creative ideas, and from season to season they amaze “fashionistas” with new shoe models. Thus, no matter how comfortable f lats and sneakers may be, high heels are timeless and will always be in fashion.

However, gold was not only a tangible DVVHWLWKDGDVSLULWXDOVLJQL¿FDQFHDVZHOOThe Aztecs, one of the most ancient nations of Latin America, considered it a talisman, radiating divine power given by the sun. Different nations endowed this metal with various enigmatic and magical properties. In the ancient Near East, for example, women were pleased to wear gold jewelry - it gave them beauty, health, male descendants, and protected them from evil spirits.

It is not surprising that since ancient times gold was an ultimate prize for the champions of combat and sporting events. Thus, at the ancient Olympic Games winners were awarded with gold coins, which were later replaced by medals.

Gold is a special material. It’s the only matter possessing such characteristics as: bright yellow color, glitter, softness, ductility and

pliability. These properties ensure a perfect, lasting appearance of the designs created with it, making this metal the most popular material for jewelry. Even a wedding ring, being the symbol of everlasting love and loyalty, is traditionally made of gold.

Many fashion revolutionaries repeatedly tried to debunk the gold following, urging people in its futility. Millenniums passed by but its popularity doesn’t fade. Despite the fact that the devotion to gold has an ancient history, humanity still craves this metal of the gods, creating amazing items and gorgeous jewelry made of gold.

Gold runs the show in the Dior fashion house. Being the symbol of splendid festivities and the ruler of sweet dreams, this precious metal has continued to inspire the designers to create

a jewelry collection “My Dior”. In this set the eternally essential pattern of cannage plays a key role, being for many years the main motif of the brand’s collections. “My Dior”, with its lines intertwined like bonds of love, can be compared with a gold lace, straw plait or lacing.

Today this precious metal takes on various forms, plain rings with warm glistening, lace-like iridescent necklaces or earrings with a sophisticated shape. For instance, Cartier’s collection of jewelry, Panthere, is 95% made of yellow gold. Even Tiffany & Co., which has always been famous for its silver and platinum jewelry increased the number of products made of yellow gold twice over the past few years. Designers came to the conclusion that creating new items of this metal is much more fun, even when it comes to classic collections.

BULGARI’S DIVASBulgari creates the Diva collection in honor of the divas they love and who love them TEXT: Alicia KUNKEL

W hat do Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, and Naomi Watts have in common? Besides sharing the title of

international sex symbols these leading ladies all have a love of exquisite jewels. Bulgari jewels to be exact. And they haven’t kept their Bulgari tucked away in jewelry boxes forever; no, they regularly sashayed down the red carpet in them, posed for photo shoots adorned in them, and flirted in piazzas as they shimmered against their skin.

This news would certainly be music to the ears of the company’s founder, Sotirio Bulgari, who created jewels to be worn, no matter how luxuriously provocative the gems may be. His family’s belief is that each piece should be the finishing touch, Nicola Bulgari’s has

colored their designs for 130 years.Sotirio, who came from a silversmith family in Greece, moved to Italy in 1884 and opened his first shop in Via Sistina, Rome. Later in 1905 with the help of his sons he open their shop in Via Condotti, which still remains their flagship store to this day. Since then the company has expanded world wide and opened new doors in the accessories and timepiece markets, even luxury hotels, bringing to each new endeavor the same dedication to excellence. The excellence that has brought their family name international renown as the preeminent Italian jewelry Maison.

Besides excellence of craftsmanship, customer service, and breathtaking jewels, Bulgari has always cherished a sense of freshness, staying of the moment while yet

BULGARI HAS ALWAYS CHERISHED A SENSE OF FRESHNESS, STAYING OF THE MOMENT WHILE YET REMAINING TIMELESSremaining timeless, gracefully sidestepping cliché flash fashions. That is why even at the recent Academy Awards ceremony Julia Roberts, Olga Kurylenko, and Naomi Watts were seen wearing decadent Bulgari jewels.

Even though they regularly capture headlines the company is not interested in sailing on yesterdays winds. This is evidenced by Nicola Bulgari saying, “You cannot simply live on past glories: that’s foolish. To be a success, you have to combine the worlds of the past, present and future. That is the challenge, and there are many horizons.”

One of their newest creations is Bulgari’s Diva Collection. The collection features fresh designs that look like they bloomed in a jeweled paradise. Lavish use of large, opulent

gems set in refined gold is at the heart of its aesthetic. Large rubellites (400.52 ct. in one necklace) look like a cross between flower petals and raspberry candies as they drip from a necklace between the iconic cabochon cut citrines and emeralds. The bewitching cornflower blue sapphire forms the center of a diamond blossom, while the Serpenti necklace tempts as 225.04 ct. t.w. diamonds make up the sinuous body.

This entire collection cheers for the bursting of spring and the sweet nectar that comes with it. No doubt we will be seeing this collection turning heads on our favorite divas of today. It’s a brilliant way to say hello to the 130th anniversary of the company. Obviously, wherever Nicola Bulgari’s horizons lead we will be happy to follow.

MY NAVY JACKET ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL COMFORTABLE, IT’S SUITABLE FOR ANY OCCASION

This vintage Jil Sander’s jacket is to me a nice and ever-green item that every man should have in their wardrobe. Something that

can make you look smart pairing it up with suit trousers, or give you a more casual look if worn with a pair of jeans. It is made out of technical cotton that age’s well even throughout the years, just like good wine.

It’s a timeless piece, it flaunts even better the older it gets. I really like it because it’s clean, simple and the cut is ageless, very international. The amazing thing about it is that dresses very well, it embraces you perfectly, no matter your body shape. I am a very casual type of guy, I love my t-shirts but I will never forget to wear a nice pair of shoes and an impeccable outwear jacket.

DESERT BOOTS, TOD’S, tods.com

So popular nowadays, desert boots can be called an alliance of fashion and nature. The British Army’s shoes that were

specially created during World War II to wade through the sands of Egypt, were the practical prototype of the designs we know today. These coarse rubber-soled boots inspired Nathan Clarke who introduced to the world his reinvented Chukka boots in 1949, making them in suede and equipping them with two pairs of eyelets. Only one year later these shoes became iconic among fashionistas and remain so up until now. In 1950, deserts by Clarks were presented at the shoe exhibition in Chicago. It was the classic model, with two pairs of lace holes, that promoted the rapid rise of desert boots’ popularity in the USA, England, Italy and France. Later desert boots became an attribute of the beatniks and mods. Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Steve McQueen wore them. Versatility and tenuity of these

shoes were appreciated not only by youngsters and stylish dandies, but also by ordinary men and politicians far from the fashion world. Lord Shackleton, the member of the British House of Lords, was seen in deserts time after time. In the 70’s and 80’s the desert boots’ vogue simmered down a bit, and in the 90s sale rates of this footwear by Clarks skyrocketed in Europe. Ever current, they can now be confidently called a classic model of casual shoes.

Casual suede ankle boots with leather or rubber soles and two or three pairs of lace holes are unanimously seen as the light, hard-wearing and long-lasting footwear of choice

I LOVE ITALYThis is Collistar’s declaration of love for 2014,

a Spring collection which celebrates the leading Italian Style. We chose to present these

lipsticks, to combine intense colour with a luminous, easy-to- wear finish. Its formula is

rich and feels amazingly smooth when applied in a thin film of colour that provides excellent

coverage. The glass pack is designed and sculpted in Murano with the iconic symbol of Collistar, the transparency dresses elegantly

on the lips giving it a sophisticated opal touch. “Colourless”, chameleonic, changeable,

emotional and intimately feminine.

BEAUTY REVIEW

Emily Dickinson couldn’t have said it better: a new season to celebrate arrives, let’s renew our colours and charge them with happiness,

by wearing a jewel! It doesn’t matter, if like her, we rejoice the arrival of the autumn or, as in our case, we are getting ready for the spring to come, the important thing is to choose the correct colours.

Nothing easier: it will only take to browse in our grandmother’s attic and choose what – thirty or forty years ago – was considered inappropriate and worn with shame because seen as too bright, too provocative or too visible.

Abandon the shiny textures, that have been dominating the whole of last season, now it is the time to go back to matte and leave colours dominate on all, modulating itself thanks to an always more intense light and claiming more space on the face, especially around the eyes. Smoky eyes never go out of fashion, but we choose to lighten it with

delicate, luminous and diaphanous shades. Our favourite? Orchid violet, obviously, the colour of the year, with which we can play forever, by selecting lilac and purple tones, and risking it using an antique pink shade that, apart from the eyelids it will look perfect on the lips as well.

The mouth, in fact, is the real protagonist for this spring, so well in evidence that does not accept any compromise: total nude, with a balm or a touch of primer to hydrate and soften it, or even dressed with bright and strong colours that resemble to red and pink but enriched with orange, yellow and purple tones. Appearing similar to a rich texture of a precious and luxurious stone.

Jewels, on the other hand, will return to illuminate cleavages, arms, f ingers and faces: gold, emeralds and rubies will decline in ref lections of light and colour shades for this spring, telling a new tale of beauty, the one of the upcoming summer.

preferred make-up artists by various famous international stars, Simone has been chosen by the big international brand to reinvent the Italian beauty in a thousand different keys of style. Fashion & Beauty has chosen him to tell us about the ideal make-up to wear this spring.

Simone, you are very young and still, you have a very important professional background: many popular icons from our TV screens ask you to do their make-up. Which are your beauty secrets? To be honest I have no “beauty secret”. I love women and I try to exalt their natural beauty, always in different ways. I believe, in fact, that make-up

does not have to be a mask but interpret the personality of a woman; it has to be an accomplice of their beauty.

How will our beauty case change for the upcoming spring? It will be full of colour and energy: orange toned lips, luminous skins and eyelashes rich with mascara. We will still have a red lipstick and a powder: a glossy face tone, as a matter of fact, does make you look aged, and that is why powder is the needful solution. The red touch on the lips is always a make-up essential, it is glamorous and seductive.

What about colours? Will it all be towards an orchid violet?I love women which play with colours, without exceeding.

SPRING WILL BE FULL OF COLOUR: ORANGE LIPS, VERY BRIGHT INCARNATIONS AND EYELASHES RICH OF MASCARA

HOTTIPS

Yes to violet and orange tones. Whichever colour you will choose for your eyes a dark lining is fundamental, in order to donate depth. In regards to lip shades is completely a free choice, bold tones and bright textures.

For L’Oréal Paris you have followed many collections: which are the must-have always with you items? It is important never to forget that every collection is thought out for everyday women, who are not under the cameras: it has to be practical with a touch of glam. I try to put together a series of make-up accessories that can guarantee a perfect look with just a few touches, the item never to forget is the mascara!

Between all the actresses for whom you have done their make-up, according to you which one was the most interesting? Every women for who I do their make-up seduces me in different ways, otherwise it would not be possible for me to interpret their beauty. I love the dramatic look of Carolina Crescentini’s eyes, the pictorial perfection of Laura Chiatti or the romantic naturalness of Cristina Capotondi.

You are, also, a professor at the Make-up Academy: how did the perception, and so the demand and interpretation of the self change, in regards to make-up?I have always taught, I like to communicate my experiences without secrets. Since I have my own Academy in Rome, I have noticed that many

students sign-up without thinking about this working environment as an artistic discipline. The professors in my Academy are only highly professional and my aim is to create other talents. The teaching, at least in my Academy, is modern and nonconformist; yes at corrections but without exceeding. I want to teach what this profession is looking for now a days and not what belongs to the past.

2. Slightly powder your skin and put a

liquid pearl highlighter on protruding parts of the face (middle of the forehead, back of the nose, upper lip line and center of the chin). To avoid dabs and stains pat the highlighter into the skin with your fingers.

1. Any makeup is based on perfect complexion. So first of all you

need to apply foundation. In spring we prefer products that do not only hide skin imperfections, but protect skin from sun rays as well. If your skin is prone to dryness, use a moisturizing base first. This will enhance the protective effect and you’ll be able to apply the foundation more evenly.

3. Mix the highlighter with a pink lipstick and put it on your cheekbones. Tip: a light pink blusher makes

a round face look even chubbier, so apply it only on the bulging parts of the cheekbones.

A spring morning, is not the best time to wear bright coloured make-up. They suit, much better, a special evening occasion. However, you could easily try out delicate pearl shades, applying them on your eyes, as blusher tone and even as your foundation.

8. Now you’re ready to meet the spring sun! No matter what the weather is like, this makeup will make you

look fresh and natural. Even if your face gets slightly tanned, it will only add a hint of charm to your image.

5. To make your eyebrows look

natural and neat, use a special brush first and then fill them in with some gray-beige shadows. Now let’s turn to your eyes - tight the upper lids with a hard black pencil. верхнего века.

4. Outline your facial contour (from the temples along the cheeks and to the neck) with a dark brown bronzer blusher.

This can sculpt your facial outline and even narrow it visually.

ON THE WAY TO HAPPINESSIt is easy to be a happy person, Tara Stiles, yoga instructor, insists. According to her, you just need to enjoy every minute of your life, find the balance and do what you really like

TARA STILES,YOGA EXPERT

Founder of the popular yoga style Strala, and the owner of the self-named portal, stralayoga.com. She created Strala, her own yoga style. In her free time Tara writes books; she has already released two bestsellers - Slim Calm Sexy Yoga and Yoga Cures.

Tara created an American version of yoga which has neither complicated names of asanas or strict prohibitions. Her practices are aimed to find the balance, to become a happy person

and to believe in your own strength.

Tara, you are a legendary person, known as revolutionary in the world of yoga. Why did you start practicing yoga?Once, when I was a little girl, I sat in the lotus position under the trees in the garden and I realized some special union with nature. I didn’t pay much attention to that case. But imagine my surprise when during a break between classes I saw my teacher at the ballet studio sitting in the same way as I had under the trees, with his legs crossed. It was he who told me about yoga.

Why did you decide to create your own style?I wanted to teach people to appreciate life, find balance and gain strength in themselves.

Yoga under your guidance differs from traditional practices. They say you can even invite DJs in the hall.I’m not trying to scare my followers with the complicated names of the asanas. It makes no sense. Include a few asanas

in your daily regimen to feel good physically and emotionally. Say, you want perfect abs. Then learn to stand on your hands, because that’s the best position for elastic abs.

But the main purpose of yoga is not only a slim body, correct?Yoga is the way to the well-being as a whole. Here breathing and emotional disposition play a significant role. Yoga helps you to be strong and focused.

It is believed that everyone who practices yoga should be a vegetarian. Your thoughts?

It is a matter of choice. When you begin practicing yoga, you don’t crave meat but prefer eating salads, fruits and vegetables. It doesn’t mean that you should suffer deprivation. For example, I love sweets and chocolate is always on my list. When composing a menu listen to your feelings during the meal, and then you will notice that you enjoy yourself more and feel much better having organic products. Remember: Health is above all!

New aesthetics and innovative techniques: the making of furniture through high-quality materials. Eponimo, a stylish brand 100% made in ItalyTEXT: Valerio VENTURI, PHOTO: courtesy of press offices

Italy, of course, is the birthplace of modern design, but now it’s time to go beyond that, to find new ways of expression. This is the reason why Eponimo was born, a creative

association between Federico Carandini and Alberto Colzani.

Eponimo was created in mid-January 2013, the result of a conversation about the state of furniture design. Three months later the brand was introduced at the Fuorisalone in Via Brera where the first collection of 7 items (sofas, armchairs, tables) was presented to the public. The remarkable speed in which all was executed, from brand identity up to product development, was possible thanks to the synergy between the two partners: they had been discussing and developing contemporary furniture already for 10 years prior to the launch of Eponimo.

From their shared experiences it became clear that something new could be done to address the changes that had occurred in the design field and in the furniture market and to take opportunities that were waiting to be taken.

117 FASHIONANDBEAUTY.IT

Page 120: Fashion&Beauty Milan Apr/May 2014

The idea is clear: Carandini and Colzani wanted to offer companies, architects and designers a top-notch product development service and realized that the only way to make this possible and believable was to describe their work through a number of real furniture pieces, fully produced and ready to ship. Needless to say, products ended up becoming an entire collection which took a life of its own and that required full and exclusive attention.

“We present the best quality of Italian manufacturing and we prefer to talk about craftsmanship and the artisans rather than the industry” they explain. All the pieces are truly made in Italy, in the sense that they are all made within 50 miles from the city of Milan. They favour valuable natural materials like solid wood, hide leather and marble, over purely industrial ones such as plastic. They try to inject new aesthetics and innovative techniques in the making of each model. “Contemporary is different from modern: an ecosystem composed of

THE CORE IDEA IS THAT CONTEMPORARY IS DIFFERENT FROM MODERN; IT IS AN ECOSYSTEM COMPOSED BY AESTHETICS LANGUAGES FROM DIFFERENT CULTURES AND PERIODS

aesthetics languages from different cultures and periods: classical, baroque, deco, pop, ethnic and modern.”The execution of Eponimo’s pieces are always technically advanced but the aesthetic inspirations and the genesis of ideas span through time: the Big Game sofa and the Nadi table are inspired by furniture of the ‘800 but reinterpreted. The Gotham armchair goes back to the late 40’s style and the Bigbubble couch is a reinterpretation of the geometric linear language of the early 80’s, but in both cases the upholstery and fillings were deconstructed to allow a less formal seating posture.

Other items such as the Exo armchair or the Rock table are original concepts developed in 2014 with a strong modern identity. Regardless of what inspired the creation of the pieces, each one bears the signature of two minds trained

in the design field and it features clever solutions in the construction and a careful work on the proportions to match the needs of today’s users while paying special attention to comfort and function. The mission is to blend familiarity and innovation, finding an ideal ground of elegance and beauty between the minimal and the opulent.

Good products, good intentions and a vision oriented toward the future. For its second year of existence Eponimo plans to have many new introductions: a new catalogue and website, featuring 7 important additions to their collection which also include variations of the items presented in 2013. It will all be launched at the Milan Fuorisalone in April. The presentation will be held in the historical area of Brera at Spazio Cernaia, a new location developed on the grounds of a villa surrounded by an intimate and yet beautiful garden.

They will also introduce to the public and the professionals their new interior design work, a service that goes from developing a concept to providing clients with a better resource for materials and furnishing. Eponimo will present projects that reflect the same philosophy expressed by their furniture collection, apartments designed for international clients through a versatile and eclectic visual language that adapts itself to different environments and personalities, but that always bears the Eponimo imprint.

DETAILSThe Big Game sofa is the contemporary reinterpretation of a model from the ‘800 but the height and the proportions were modified and the construction and the materials updated to address the needs of today’s users.

From the 8th until the 13th of April, Milan will become the capital of design. Walk around especially the area of Brera: here you will find the most prestigious events and

in Via Cernaia 1, you will also find us, Fashion&Beauty!

FUORISALONE IN BRERA!

In the centre of Milan, in the centre of Design Week, there is definitely to consider the Brera district. The Salone of Design, as we all know, will take

place at Rho Fiera. The city awaits especially to attend the events taking place in the Fuorisalone, which will be located in various areas of the Milanese city centre. Brera, is the most antique district of Italian design and surely a location that hosts the most stylish and interesting events.

regards to the most diverse topics of design. Furthermore, they will open cultural locations such as archives, foundations and institutions. Spaces dedicated also to children, thanks to “Design for kidz” and “Kidscomer” (that will take place in Rigotondo, Foro Bonaparte 20), a safe location where to leave your children and surround them with design, while you visit the Fuorisalone. “Robot therapy”, taking place in the Mediateca in Via Santa Teresa, which will explore the theme of the relationship between design and robotics, while at the Order of Architects in Via Solferino there will be an exhibition of Gabriele Basilico’s photographs.

Obviously, many interesting appointments will be held in temporary spaces and in the showrooms of the design brands. Information and maps of the location can be found on breradesigndistrict.it. Fashion&Beauty will be there! The 10th of April will be held a special event in collaboration with the brand Eponimo, which we talk about in the pages that follow. For the entire duration of the Design Week we will be present in the prestigious space in Via Cernaia 1, behind the beautiful Basilica of San Marco. Come to see us!

The district – reference point for this sector, it’s the territory with the highest quantity of showrooms, galleries, spaces dedicated to design and at the same time in terms of culture and art – it will animate as always thanks to the many cultural initiatives. Nearly hundred operators – including the most prestigious design brands – will present their new releases and creations to the qualified and large public. In 2013, just to mention, more than 130,000 people passed through Brera for the Fuorisalone. This year, many initiatives are linked to knowledge and learning. The theme this year is “Be District: Create Connections and Communicate Innovations”. “The world is moving towards the hybrid age”, explain the organizers, “a new age is developing when a variety of technologies, languages, materials and knowledge come together. Brand and product are not sufficient; the online reputation and communication develops according to several principles and new markets which require different and innovative development models. In practice, here are the main appointments for the Fuorisalone in Brera. First of all, the meetings scheduled for the review “Lessons of Design”: where important creative’s will confront with inquisitive people in

Gilda Bojardi, director of Interni Magazine, acknowledged as the inventor of Fuorisalone. She tells Fashion & Beauty the origin of her idea and offers some advice in regards to the exhibition coming in 2014

FUORISALONE ACCORDING TO IT’S CREATOR

How was Fuorisalone born? The idea came together with Interni, in 1990, when the September appointment with the Salone del Mobile was moved to April: today this event has overcome, is sense of cultural interest and experimentation, the boundaries of an institutional market-show, taking to an extensive and festive way the project of design within the city. When we talk about design in Italy, in a way or another, it always leads to Milan with the Salone del Mobile and the Fuorisalone.

What type of role does the Fuorisalone have in the city? The Design Week in April represents, at an international level, a unique appointment: every single one, regardless to the specific interest for this particular project, sees it as a transversal, spectacular and unmissable event. Fuori Salone occupies internal areas of the city, that become exhibition ‘districts’ a big call out for those defined as “the design population”; it has by now become a socio-cultural phenomenon (that today counts more than 500 events) with a big important economical input for the city.

Which is the geography of the “Fuorisalone”?The event is extend throughout the entire city: FuoriSalone occupies every space possible, from the usual location to the

most typical places such as museums and art galleries, “undressed” to be arranged to welcome exhibitions, objects and experimental furniture. Spaces from offices, deposits, abandoned factories to well-known monumental locations that - occupied by temporary installations- become atypical, offering to the public an unusual presence of expressions in regards to the contemporary project.

Any news for the 2014 edition? What about advice?I advice to check out the FuoriSalone Guide of Interni, that will be distributed in the 500 locations of the event and will be available online starting from the 3rd of April 2014.

YOUR FAVORITE LOOK FOR SS 2014We have asked 10 fashion insiders to explain what has attracted them the most of the upcoming warm month’s outfits; discover here the most exciting piecesTEXT: Barbara CENTAZZO, ILLUSTRATIONS: Alberto LAPENNA

TOP 10 MILAN

FLAVIA COLLI FRANZONE, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF FASHION ILLUSTRATED

What I found most interesting in the spring/summer collections was the red thread that combines fashion and art with quotes, inspirations or determined references. For example: Gauguin and his polynesian women at Aquilano.Rimondi, the exotic and blooming vegetation of Henri Rousseau at Hermès and the eccentric and evocative works of Kathy Ruttenberg at Antonio Marras.

ENZO MICCIO,TV PRESENTER AND WEDDING PLANNER

I find splendid and of huge effect the admixture between fashion and street art, which merged together results in a perfect blend for the new Prada bag collection, inspired by the murals of Diego Rivera. Art and glamour, a catalyst of attention result for who wants to play with fashion and has a strong ironic and fun spirit.

ALESSANDRA PELLEGRINO,SENIOR FASHION EDITOR AT GLAMOUR ITALIA

I love Saint Laurent. The leather jacket is easy, cool, timeless and highly versatile. I like the neo-grunge mood in this chic version.

ALBERTO SALESI, GENERAL SECRETARY AT CAMERA ITALIANA BUYER MODA I think there are two looks absolutely worth mentioning when it comes to spring/summer 2014. Firstly, the outfits created with knitwear paired with light pleated skirts and bright colour touches that were seen on the Céline catwalk, and lastly, Prada, of course, who mixed art and fashion, creating a diverse trend blending sportswear (big socks) and vintage (bags), adding colourful shades and creating an atmosphere that is truly unique.

SABRINA QUERCI, FOUNDER OF Q.CONNECTIONS

My favourite look for the summer is by the Louis Vuitton collection; a few days before the show I was in London at Studio 54 theme party, when I saw the show a few days later, I was excited to see that I was dressed exactly in the style presented on the catwalk.

PAOLO COLOGNESE, OWNER AND BUYER AT THE BEST SHOPS

I would say Stella Jean for the fantasy, the ethnic touch combined with high tailoring. I also liked Alexandre Vauthier for the rigorousness and Valentino for its elegance that always distinguishes him.

ROBERTO CHINELLO, CEO AT SOCIETÀ ITALIA

I love this jacket by Paul Smith. A classic piece, but at the same time it expresses the personality of the designer and his ability to reveal particular and eccentric details, such as contrast cuffs, matched with an exceptional quality fabric perfectely cut and really comfortable.

RICCARDO GRASSI, FOUNDER OF RICCARDO GRASSI SHOWROOM

I choose MSGM. The long dresses are very feminine but at the same time reviewed with a modern twist. It can also look rock due to the use of tie and die, one of the main themes of 2014.

SIMONE MUNARI, BLOGGER My favourite piece of the SS14 is definitely the Givenchy jumper. I love the idea that Riccardo Tisci had for this part of the collection, I find the print very original and striking because of the colours used and the well-defined edges of the subject.

MARCO BELFIORE, ARTIST

The collection that I preferred from this Spring/Summer 2014 is by the emerging brand Co|te: simple lines with no frills, basic colours and great attention to details.

Charming Verona! Its beautiful antique buildings and the distant view of the enchanting countryside with feasible paths

and galleries held up by solid balustrades, with its tranquil roman bridges that illuminate the right way with centuries-old shades. Marble churches, tall towers, rich architecture that faces the antique and quiet roads that echo the screams of the Montague’s and the Capulet’s…”

Charles Dickens wrote these words describing Verona: and still today we can fall in love with this city and the unique atmosphere, suspended between the past and the present, welcoming and full of history. As the English writer, also a modern visitor will remain struck by the beautiful quietness of the historical city centre and the surrounding landscape.

Verona wins us over due to its inf inite tale, made of Roman domination and medieval buildings, and hits the myth of Romeo and Juliet, that still today wraps the city with

a tragic romanticism. What makes you fall in love is its incredible hospitality, its liveability and limited size. Walking through Verona, it is easy and everything is reachable by foot, a relaxing and enriched experience. Enjoy a sweet walk, an individual discovery, a place for couples in love, where the trace of everlasting prohibited love between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s is told by William Shakespeare.

The f irst place to visit is def initely the Arena, roman theatre home to major entertainment events and it is located in Piazza Bra, surrounded by historical buildings of astonishing beauty, like for example the Gran Guardia Palace, the Barbieri Palace, and the Liston, the point of excellence for Veronese evening events.

At the end of the Liston we can f ind the renown Via Mazzini, most attend and most elegant street of the city, full of stores and typical restaurants. At the end of the road you can reach Via Appello,

Piazza delle Erbe, ancient roman forum, has always hosted a f lourishing market full of colours and scents. The square is surrounded by the medieval Tower of Lamberti and by the splendid Case Mazzanti, adorned with paintings of the ‘500, but also the Case del Ghetto and the Domus Mercatorum. On the background we can see emerge the sixth century Maffei Palace.

From Piazza delle Erbe it is possible to access into Piazza dei Signori, from which you can admire the Loggia del Consiglio and the Scaligeri Palace and reach the Scaligere Arches, and the complex of tombs in gothic style of the Signori di Verona. A perfect spot where to sit down and have a coffee, refuel so that you will be ready to continue this amazing long journey through the city.

The S.Anastasia church and the Roman Theatre still today salute the sweet flowing of the Adige river, that has encircled the city centre for centuries. The day will go very smoothly. You can go back to the Piazza delle Erbe; going through Corso Portoni Borsari, were you will discover the oldest Porta Borsari, concluding, Corso Cavour that leads you to the Arches of Gavi from the roman époque and to Castelvecchi, an outstanding castle created at the beginning of 1354. Piazza Bra is the point where we started and where we will f inish our journey through Verona, a romantic city with sweet colours all over.

Romeo, before leaving the city and his life in Verona behind to escape to Mantua, he said: “There is no world without the walls of Verona, but only purgatory, torture, hell itself. Hence-banished is banished from the world and world’s exile is death…” Shareable words and still true have been written centuries ago by the master William Shakespeare: Veronese people have honoured him with a statue; we honour this city by going back home even more in love with Verona.

MASERATI’S GHIBLI:“Walk out of the shadows, quietly walk out of the dark – and strike.” Maserati’s new sports sedan is a luxurious upgrade for a modern touring car. Debuted at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, it struck audiences with its dramatic ad campaign first aired during the Super Bowl. This critical move captured viewers hearts and led Forbes to crown it the winner of the Super Bowl ad battle. Maserati decidedly leveled its trident toward other competitors in the market in a decisive announcement they are here to win. With the Ghibli being the first Maserati to have a price point less than $100,000, while still offering the finest of Italian elegance and performance which the company is known for, it has certainly been turning heads. The sleek lines, distinctive grill, Poltrona Frau leather, exquisite stitch work, envious steering and display panel, along with innovative 3 litre Twin Turbo V6 engine that likes to show off its 0-100 kmh in just 5.5 seconds with its heart throbbing roar of the engine, proves that this isn’t your average soccer-mom’s car. No, it’s an edgy yet refined translation of the company’s vision of today’s modern family. They understand that you don’t compromise when it comes to your family or lifestyle, and thanks to Maserati now you don’t have to.

LAMBORGHINI’S HURACAN LP 6104:Imagine a couture design inspired by the pulsating, rhythmic and wild parties of Rio de Janeiro. Imagine a technologically advanced power system that seems to come from the future. Imagine luxurious fittings worthy of an impetuous prince. Now imagine slipping inside the velvety black suede surroundings, pressing the ignition and feel yourself slam deeper into the seat as 610hp charges through you with jet like speeds at 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. Lamborghini conceived of a machine that had everything; style, sophistication, and futuristic know-how, with an unmatched tailoring for the most important person, you. She had to be adrenaline embodied, an exquisite thrill seeker, a sexy, revving powerhouse slinking off the runway and into collectors hearts. The bull advanced with the belief that “Real power is having control over power.” The naturally aspirated V10 breathes life into the mechanized hurricane force-like energy in the palm of your hands. A matchless experience befitting the heroes of the racetrack, the star power fit for the red carpet, and a provocative glimpse into the future. Because like Lamborghini says,

“It’s like a time machine. Only faster.”

FERRARI’S CALIFORNIA T:Ferrari’s iconic 1950’s California T has been revised for the new millenia. The Italian interpretation of the California lifestyle, with its Hollywood glam star quality and the fun sporty thrill that only the new V8 turbo engine can give, is paparazzi worthy. In the private unveiling held in February at the Casa Natale Enzo Ferrari Museum over 800 special guest were treated to a preview of this Maranello masterpiece. Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and Kimi Raikkonen were behind the wheels of the Blu California and Rosso California as they entered the stage to thunderous applause. The innovative design still honors its classic forerunner with the stylistic 250 Testa Rossa’s famous pontoon-fender contours. In an impressive 14 seconds the slim bonnet transforms the chic California T into a top-down expression of freedom so that, no matter where in the world you are, when you’re behind the wheel of Ferrari’s newest titan you’ll always be hugging the curves of the Pacific Coast Highway.

The Azimut-Benetti Group have become the Italian pearl of the high seas due to their vision and strategy

TEXT: Alicia KUNKEL

AN OCEANIC ICON

When you think of the glamour of the yachting lifestyle or the free spirited

feeling of small personal cruisers one name probably comes to mind – Azimut-Benetti. And that is exactly what the founder Paolo Vitelli had in mind, though, maybe not when he first began his company as a boat charter in 1969. However, in very short order this enterprising young Italian man took the ocean going world by storm. He began to develop his vision, one victory at a time, that has taken his Turin boat chartering company all the way into 68 countries and 138 offices, with representative offices and yachting centers in Shanghai; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Itajai, Brazil; and Bursa, Turkey.

In 1970 at the Genoa Boat Show he met Franz Felix of Amerglass,

Europe’s most modern boatyard. Franz offered Azimut the Amerglass dealership for Italy. This fateful meeting was the beginning of the Azimut we know today. At the age of 24 Paolo was ready to set his sights onto the design and production of his own boats. Out of the Dutch know-how of Amerglass and the chic design

and craftsmanship of Italy was born the AZ 43’ Bali, one of the largest fibreglass yachts in mass-production at that time. That success was followed by the smallest boat, the AZ 32’ Targa, which is still known as the “Model T” of the boating world. It captured hearts due to its economic pricing and risk-free cruising that it offered.

Over the years Azimut made many other innovations such as realizing that one could use some of the problem solving, style and design aesthetics used in the automotive industry and apply it to the nautical world. By using glued glass panes, electric windows and seats, and authentic briar root they were able to continue to set themselves apart and pave new roads on the high seas. In 1988 they even enlisted the help of the world renown exotic car manufacturer, Peninfarina, to collaborate on a unique yacht design when they decided to join the Blue Ribbon Trophy, an exciting adrenaline packed transatlantic race, as competitors. The goal? To cross the Atlantic Ocean without refueling. Together they created the Azimut Atlantic Challenger. For over forty years they have continued to set the standard in the nautical industry. their more recent innovations is the Easy Hybrid. A revolutionary hybrid electric system that reduces oil consumption and dramatically reduces noise as well. The Easy Hybrid, created at Azimut-Benetti’s Centre for Research and Development, is at the core of their new design, the Azimut’s Magellano 50 presented in 2010 at Genoa. It is the first of its size to receive the Rina Green Plus class notation. The impressive hybrid engine can change from oil to electric power easily, even when in automatic, without hindering sailing.

Along with innovation and an ecologically responsible mind set they also excel in customer service. One remarkable example is when Christina Onassis bought their Failaka yacht to commemorate the birth of her daughter. The entire design team,

workers, fitters and suppliers, worked around the clock to create the floating monument to her beloved new born. In just one hundred days they had completed and delivered the yacht in the nick of time to the island of Skorpios for baby Athina’s baptism. It was this determined level of customer care that brought them to acquire, in 2004, Fraser Yachts. The elite and refined service oriented company tailored to creating seamless, worry free yacht owning experiences. Because owning an Azimut-Benetti yacht is about experiencing superiority of quality; the peacefulness of floating between the sea and sky knowing that you have all the conveniences of land right here on your oasis; feeling the champagne fizzy excitement of pulling into port in Monte Carlo

FOR OVER FORTY YEARS THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO SET THE STANDARD IN THE NAUTICAL INDUSTRY

in an Italian tailored design fit for a king; entertaining in the crisp white detailing with the saturated tangerine tones of the custom seating arrangements, stainless steel fixtures, and elegant honey toned wood trim.

Do you prefer to take to the seas alone for sanctuary from today’s

hectic schedule or maybe you would rather have a long guest list of friends and family to accompany you? Maybe you envision a luxe look for your yacht the shade of a Tahitian pearl? A 34’ cruiser or a 164’ mega yacht? Whatever your dreams are made of the Azimut-Benetti Group is ready to start building them.

WE LOVE PIZZAMargherita, Marinara, 4Stagioni... Pizza is a world of flavor and emotions

There is something known as the Italian pizza. Now this dish is a true universal cuisine. The oven baked, flat, round bread typically topped with a tomato

sauce, cheese and various toppings, what we know as the modern pizza was invented in Naples, Italy. The food has since become popular in many parts of the world. Of course, the real Italian pizza is very different from the one you can normally eat around the globe. Even here there are many variations. The first

is the Neapolitan pizza, a traditional specialty guaranteed to be prepared according to a strict specification approved by the European Union. It has the highest crust, and it is round and simple. The second variant with a more crisp, dry and low crust is called «Pugliese». In Milan the thick pizza is very popular, by the slice, that of Spontini, so to speak. In all cases, if you are fond of these spectacular, simple dishes of Italian tradition do not miss The World Pizza Championship 2014, in Parma. From the

7th to the 9th of April, it is the biggest event in the world of pizza. The affair, in addition to being the scene of the race, is also the point of reference for all practitioners and specialists in the pizza industry. The fair organizers, companies, and buyers, offer a unique and privileged point of view to the novelty and potential future trends sector. Obviously, this is the best place to enjoy an amazing pizza! pizzaworldshow.it

The Milanese people love pizza by the slice: high, filled with cheese and maybe other “accessories” added on top. Spontini is a master in the art of pizza. For this reason, Spontini has opened various stores and it is always full of customers. In short, if you want to live the city, you have to try this experience. The pizza, however, is another matter entirely!

DARIO VENTURISOMMELIER AND WINE SELLER

Spring is coming, and the tender filter of sun rays caress you. In the wine industry, this is announced by the whites from Piedmont Langhe. Roero Arneis Tistin wine, very fresh and floral with a pear aftertaste. The Gaja Rey, on the other hand, expresses the territory of Alba and becomes the symbol of Italian white wines in the world. In Sardinia, near Alghero, the Torbato Terre Bianche Sella & Mosca is born, unique white wine in its kind: from native grapes, it combines the scents of the sea, the land and the flavors of this Italian island. A wine that accompanies fish dishes perfectly. Sardinian Mirto can be an ideal after meal liquor to finish with. Finally, the younger brother of Sassicaia, Guidalberto, born in 2000 and became Merlot reference to its pleasantness which compensates for the complexity of scent by a nectar suitable for a “Dejuner sur l’ herb” in the company of young models. What about at the end of the springtime meal? A Moscato, the prince of Italian dessert wines. Spring is also the season of Sauternes, to be enjoyed in the shade of an old walnut, lulled by the balsamic notes of the sea breeze... venturivini.net

G 2011 S E B 10

Guidalberto is a second wine from the producers of the legendary

Sassicaia. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels and refined in bottle before release. A full-bodied wine of intense red fruit flavour and

an elegant sinuous texture supported by ripe, silky tannins.

T B T D R

Terre Bianche Torbato is a grape of ancient origins now grown

exclusively in the Sella & Mosca, the area of “White Lands” which takes its name from a soil rich limestone,

from ancient marine sediments. Dry, fresh, firm and smooth but with a

fruity backbone.

B S C’ B

Delightful yeasty tone with fine bubbles. Clean taste of lemons

and pears super yeasty and delicate to the nose, it is difficult

to discern any other note through the breadiness. Creamy

and luxurious mouthfeel with fine mousse and some crisp

sourness. Taste of bread, apple and a soft salinity.

SPRINGTIME IS THE RIGHT SEASON TO ENJOY WINE IN THE SHADE OF AN OLD WALNUT, LULLED BY THE BALSAMIC NOTES OF THE SEA BREEZE... IT’S TIME TO ENJOY THE NEW WHITE WINES AND OF A SWEET SATURATED TASTE

A T R B A 2013

Arneis literally means “little rascal” as it is a hard grape to grow. For centuries it was mixed with Nebbiolo grape in the Barolo regio, the reason why it is also known as the “white Barolo”. Medium bodied, dry

and fresh and very floral and chill with pear character. It is an excellent food match.

G R C One of the greatest white wines of Europe,

a truly remarkable accomplishment in a country where red grapes have historically dominated the realm of fine wine.In good vintages, the potential aging for this wine can exceed 10, 15, or even 20 years. GAJA recommends letting it age at least 5 years

before opening. Wonderful!

S L One of a numerous impressive white

blends produced by Felluga winery, this Livio Felluga “Sharis” is a combination of

Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay. A fairly pale lemon colour in the glass, this 2012 Felluga “Sharis” offers an aromatic and alluring fragrance of white flower and

cinnamon and white pepper spices.

ITEM OF THE ISSUE

PETAL BAGSeen at the Burberry Prorsum runway show in London, the petal bag is definitely the ‘must-have’ item from this brand this season. Inspired by the classic English rose, a soft and relaxed design, embellished by hand applied flowers that recall English gardens.
