Taking the place of the oh-so-talented diva Liz Kim, I have

learned so much of what fashion is, and how it is shaped.

After being able to volunteer for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

in September of 2010, fashion has become a whole new entity

for me. As the new editor-in-chief for this academic school year,

my goal was to inform the fashion world to students of UCSD,

not just the clothes but the in’s and out’s of the industry.

why noun as the theme?

Sometimes you only need one person, one place, one thing to

inspire your style.Fashion can be messy, beautiful, and terribly ugly.

Here’s a look at what fashion is to us, the staff and the

wonderful featured girls.

enjoy!

H&MLANVIN

THING

Alber Elbaz, artistic director for Lanvin, brings in a

decadently French yet modernly playful collection for

both mens’ and womenswear. Lanvin is the latest brand

to collaborate with H&M with previous collections de-

signed by Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme

de Garçons, Roberto Cavalli, and Sonia Rykiel.

While normally Lanvin’s lavish cocktail dresses sell for

$1,000 to $5,000, the limited edition clothes

will range in prices from $39.95 to $349. “

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.”
