Family Self-Sufficiency Program What is the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program? Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a HUD program that assists Housing Assistance Families (Public Housing and Section 8) to Achieve Economic Self-Sufficiency through counseling and one-on-one case management. The Oxnard Housing Authority works with various service providers and local partners to provide FSS participants with the support services they need to become self-sufficient. Participants in the FSS program sign a contract that includes an Individual Training and Services Plan for clients which contain specific goals. The head of household is required to complete the goals, seek and maintain suitable employment, and become free of monetary welfare assistance by the end of the five-year term. What services are provided through the FSS program? The FSS program provides referrals to resources such as: child care financial literacy transportation education job search assistance specialized counseling computer classes credit repair homeownership counseling What families are eligible to participate in the FSS program? The FSS program is available for Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) participants and Public Housing residents. Escrow Account: (Savings through rent payments) An interest-bearing Escrow Account is created for families that are in the FSS Program. Families continue to pay rent in accordance with their incomes but if they experience an increase in family rent as a result of an increase in earned income during the program, the amount of the increase is placed in their escrow account. If the family completes the FSS contract by obtaining or maintaining suitable employment, and completing their goals by the end of the expiration of the contract, they receive the funds in their escrow account and can use them without limitations. What is the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program?

Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a HUD program that assists Housing Assistance Families (Public Housing and Section 8) to Achieve Economic Self-Sufficiency

Que es el Programa de Autosuficiencia Familiar (FSS)? El Programa de Autosuficiencia familiar (FSS) es un programa de HUD que ayuda a familias de Viviendas Públicas y Sección 8 a lograr la autosuficiencia económica a

través de consejería y atención individual. La Autoridad de Viviendas de Oxnard trabaja con varios proveedores de servicios y para proporcionar a los participantes

FSS con los servicios de apoyo que necesitan para ser autosuficiente. Los participantes del Programa FSS firman un contrato que incluye un Plan de

Quien es elegible para participar en el Programa FSS?

Cuenta de Ahorros: (Ahorros a través de sus pagos de renta)

Dentro del Programa FSS, si usted experimenta un aumento de renta debido a un aumento de ingresos de trabajo por cualquier miembro de su familia,

depositaremos un porcentaje del aumento en una cuenta de ahorros para usted. Usted puede ser elegible de recibir sus ahorros ya que complete sus metas y se gradué del programa!

Puede utilizar los fondos a su gusto, por ejemplo para el enganche para comprar una casa, empezar su propio negocio, o
