A suite of sculptures that combine portraiture, diorama, and video and laser projection, Priests of the Temple portrays Silicon Valley leaders within the changing landscape of the West. Based in New York City, the McCoys have exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, P.S.1., The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the New Museum. SEPTEMBER 18¬DECEMBER 4 Opening Reception September 18 from 6:00¬8:00 pm Projective Eye Gallery at UNC Charlotte Center City Amalgamation: THE MIXED-MEDIA WORKS OF ALBERT CHONG The Projective Eye Gallery presents a retrospective of Albert Chong’s photographic work, featuring more than 30 pieces that span three decades. The juxtaposition and integra- tion of cultural influences, the politics of race, and the role ethnicity plays in identity—as experienced in both his home country of Jamaica and the U.S.—are the substance of Chong’s compelling imagery. SEPTEMBER 11 & 12 Belk Theater, Robinson Hall, 7:30 pm Faculty Dance Concert The wide-ranging choreographic and performing talents of our dance faculty are showcased in a concert with outstanding guest artists. Past visiting dancers have included members of Charlotte Ballet and the Martha Graham and José Limon dance companies. With the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 2016, the Department of Theatre approaches the completion of its ambitious “36 in 6” project, addressing each of the Bard’s works across a six-year span. Among the most studied of Shakespeare’s characters, Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, is plagued by indecision as he confronts his father’s murder and his mother’s quick remarriage.
